Arthur was on the radio as a guest host a few days ago and even when pushed, would not comment on the regimes that followed him.
Didn't have a problem speaking of other teams.
If I can find the interview, I'll post it.

I think that's bullshit.
I could give two shits if you think it’s bullshit.
UMMMM... it's the very definition of bullshit! :sly:

You pulled that nugget out your backside, there is no reason for anyone to believe it's remotely true.

Just more of your 'make-Benning-out-to-be-an-incompetent-goof' agenda, nothing new...

I feel bad for Elmer. I just don’t have a good feeling about the ownership Corny.

Hmm... maybe Luigi got tired of Trevor farting around all the time with the same old, oh we'll play the young guys this year. Trev has been doing/saying this for 3 years. Trev is a nice guy and all, but where are the results? I mean at least with JB, everyone can say he has drafted well and got the franchise some great young talent. Serously, what has Trev done for the franchise? Sure, everyone luvs him, but it doesn't bring butts in seats. Luigi doing a Trump to Trev: "YOU ARE FIRED!!!"

Instead, Luigi knows Greener wants some grinders/checkers. They invested in this coach, might as well give him the tools (his type of personnel) that he feels he needs to succeed. He gets Franceso to tell JB to get some guys who can play tough minutes, tough matchups and do a lot of the heavy lifting, so the young guys can just focus on what we got them to do.... score! It doesn't matter if we have to overpay or give out too much term, just get it done. I mean, Luigi prob doesn't have many years left, he prob just wants to see a Cup b4 he croaks (like most of us here). I know Mother Aqua passed not too long ago, so he knows time is something he doesn't have.

I frankly don’t have the time right now, but would love to see the results of a comparison between the teams under corporate ownership (ie-Rogers, Comcast, MSG, etc) and private ownership in terms of team success since the cap came in. More than numbers of Cups, what the comparison is with winning seasons and fan-base. Because corporate owners tend to be less interventionist, I suspect that they would have the more stable and successful clubs on aggregate.

Thoughts?

The way the silver spooned bros run this team is the same way a silver spooned brat treats his 2 year old Ferrari “I’m bored of this one, it’s got a scratch in the door! I want a new one! Now! Wahhhhhhhh!!!”
“Tyler Myers is my guy... I was taking to Scotty Bowman last night and he was bringing up his name, and saying he’s a big guy and big guy need big minutes to play, he is playing great for ya… and I agree with him… He’s been exceptional” - Bruce Boudreau

Interesting.

Burke had the hands-off McCaw when he transformed the team and tanked for the Sedins. Would he have got the green light from an owner like Francesco?

However, the leaves' improvement doesn't necessarily tie up with Rogers buying the team. Their first GM was Nonis, which was IMO a very old-guard move.

I doubt Frankie would have had the patience for what Burke did. The sense I got from McCaw was that as long as the bottom line was reasonably healthy he let hockey operations do their thing. It was the other parts of the operation that stuck their noses into it. Even so, I don’t think even a hands-off owner like McCaw would have bought everything Gillis pitched about spending money on sleep studies and stuff like that.

As for the Leaves and Rogers, I think that was more of a matter of finding the right bunch of people to put in charge of the hockey operations. Evidently they grew less and less convinced that Nonis’ model was working and they went another way. Once they chose somebody, though, it seems to me like they left them alone.

It doesn’t surprise me that McCammon was the one responsible. He was one of the ones I was referring to above. That’s what happens when you have non-hockey types (including owners) meddling into things.

Stan McCammon was also the front man for McCaw during the sale of Orca Bay to the water boy.

He had been negotiating with Gags, Beedie and water boy as the three of them submitted a joint bid. Stan McCammon did not like Gags approach, he kept signing offers back and countering. I think it was called negotiations but what do I know. Anyway, Gags was the front man for the trio.

Water boy wanted to accept the last offer and Stan McCammon convinced him to leave the group of three and bow out, and begin secret negotiations behind the backs of the other two. Gags had an exclusive window to negotiate so nothing could be done until that window closed. Stan McCammon strung Gags along, playing the game, letting the negotiations run out.

Once that happened water boy mysteriously renewed his interest to buy Orca Bay and quickly accepted the last offer. Thus the protracted lawsuit. From Stan McCammon point of view Gags had two strikes against him. 1) he was harballing negotiations and 2) he told anyone who would listen he was bringing Burke back as President of Hockey Operations.

I forget all the minutia but suffice to say that Stan McCammon was not the nicest guy to deal with.

For me it was a big blow. With Gags as owner my pipeline would have been so deep. He loves to talk and gossip.
