Very interesting, HW.

I remember those times, we weren't exactly doing so well even with the new barn. There was all that talk about relocation, the Messier era, etc.

Was definitely not fond of the McCaw ownership, they had no love for the city or the team. But Stan McCammon... that guy just seemed like a real dick. The corporate shill always irked me.

Wonder what the alternative reality without the Aquas would be like if it hadn't played out this way?
Try to focus on 1 year from now...

Water boy wanted to accept the last offer and Stan McCammon convinced him to leave the group of three and bow out, and begin secret negotiations behind the backs of the other two. Gags had an exclusive window to negotiate so nothing could be done until that window closed. Stan McCammon strung Gags along, playing the game, letting the negotiations run out.
If this were true, u would think the courts would see that McCammon and Orca Bay did not negotiate in good faith, but for whatever reason the courts said everything was legit. Too bad, what's done is done.

Hedgehog Burkie would have destroyed the Canucks rather than the Leaves?

Yeah, looking @ Mick's document, McCammon can just say that they liked the deal they had in place with the Aquas, that deal was offered to Gags & Co multiple times, but Gags kept counter-offering. Gags had every opportunity to take that offer, so they just simply looked elsewhere. I guess they could have at least given Gags the courtesy of a heads up that they had another interested party to see if Gags would match that deal, but wasn't obligated to.

I forget all the minutia but suffice to say that Stan McCammon was not the nicest guy to deal with.
Wasn't it Stan McCammon who told Quinn to call Gretzky in the middle of the night to give him a take it or leave it offer?

Yes. I wonder if certain posters who constantly defend management and ownership at EVERY SINGLE TURN were on board with McCammon’s tactics back then
