Just watching USA vs Sweden on TSN.
Those Hughes boys do play well together.
Quinn to Jack--in the net
They are small though.
6'2 Pettersson should help that.

Shit hope we are all alive when Hughes to Pettersson to Boeser start clickin', those guys will be going crazy for like 8-10 years.
A long time ago, a baseball player remarked: "If I owned a ballclub, I'd hire a $5,000 coach and a $15,000 scout."

He was owning the latter part of that OT, you just get a feeling something was going to happen. He gets the puck with 7 secs left and sure enough...wow.

A three assist night for Quinn vs Sweden today in the Summer Showcase preliminaries. The last assist was impressive.

USA 5 - Sweden 4, highlights

Thanks for posting that clip sagebrush.

The speed of how he processes the game is what stands out to me there. He doesnt have the big shot or anything but honestly his dishing skills are better than relying on an old school wind up and pound it on net type of game.

Curiously he doesnt stand out as being any smaller than most of those kids out there...including some that are over 6'. Hes such a blur it doesnt matter lol

If Patty Kane played D he'd look kinda like QH. Can't help thinking that every time I watch the kid, especially when he does those quick turns with the puck, single-handed on his top hand using his other hand and body to angle/push off opponents...very Kane-like, size not too far off too.

If Hughes ends up being able for to play like this at the NHL level he’ll be a star. That was an impressive display.
If Dahlin is another level above this, can’t wait to see Buffalo play, too.

It is incredible to watch those two bros. Even I was taken back by the speed. Impressive skills to say the least.
They do swoop down low and so far, getting away with it.
The only words of caution I have are that it'll take tremendous vision and awareness to make moves like that in the bigs.
I keep hearing the league is moving towards smaller, faster.
I wouldn't be too quick to buy into that, long term.
I will say that from what I've seen so far, Quinn has better on ice savvy.

On a side note; Who was that Swede that had a full beard, was meaner than rat-shit, built to crush and looked 4 years older than anyone else?

I echo the caution. No matter how the league trends, the one constant is time and space will always be limited in the playoffs. A guy a lot of people wanted, Ehlers, who's blessed with a shitload of speed and skill looked like dog poop in the postseason. He wasn't the only example.

Liking the skill we're adding, but if/when the day comes when we can challenge again I really wonder how far our smurf army can take us (and I do want bro Jack) ... guess I'll worry about it way down the road.

There will always be a place for smaller, faster, elite talents like Hughes, but a lot of the Canuck players are just smaller but not particularly faster or elite talents, like Gagner, Goldobin, Leipsic. They are just kind of average. While they score a few more goals than grinders. It doesn’t help the team win. They contribute to more goals against than they do goals for. Those guys can be replaced by defensively solid, bottom-six checkers who hardly ever score or give up goals against and it will help the team win more games. It doesn’t make for exciting, high-scoring hockey at both ends of the rink, just more wins. If a team is lucky enough to have elite talent they can open it up. The Canucks aren’t there yet, but on the right path.

Thanks for the links Mick

24 Hughes can dance. I also see him not afraid to drive into the traffic and thats where both his assists came from. The more i see of him the better he looks

Theres only a quick peek at Woo lighting up that kid but it looked pretty sweet. His physicality will be very welcome to offset some of our smaller players back there
