Hey...only getting credit for 7 hits in a season takes effort. You would have to consciously avoid contact for 8 months straight and even still...you would probably get credit for incidental contact and get more than 7.

No its safe to say he is committed to avoiding contact like the Amish

I honestly think he may be the worst UFA signing in the history of the organization. At least Messier was only here three seasons. This slug is here for another four years.

Blob Mckenzie wrote: Sat Jun 30, 2018 8:38 am There should be a poll for rating Elmer’s performance during the free agency period. For instance last year he picked up a decent player in Del Zotto on a reasonable contract but then whiffed on Gagner, Weirdcrotch, and the Russian kid. 1/4 so I’d give him a D+ maybe a C-. The previous year though he gets a well deserved F for bringing that parasite Eriksson on board.
You tend towards a failing grade if he signs ANYONE in UFAgency (cuz UFAs tend to get "overpaid")

... but you'd also give him a failing grade if he didn't sign anyone (cuz he didn't address needs).

Let's face it...

I think I have proven who can’t handle a rebuild.

It’s the instant gratification gang who want to hemorrhage picks for mid 20s players because they are too impatient to wait for the picks to develop.

I think Elmer had a decent UFA off season in 2014 and would give him a passing grade of C for Miller and Vrbata.

Ummmm... didn't you CRAP ALL OVER the Miller signing for 3 years? ("too old" and you wanted to run with Lack)

You didn't like the Vrbata signing much either... you were overly concerned with cap space for some reason.

I didn’t love either signing but they look amazing compared to Louis.

I have to adjust my grade to a C or C + for Elmer’s 2017 ufa signings. I forgot Thomas Vanek.

Doc you have to be pissed at the Eriksson signing. 7 hits!

It appears to me that he thought he was semi-retiring to a life of long summers and lattes on the west coast

I find it difficult to believe any team would trade for the lazy piece of shit.

I also think he knows he can hide on this team with minimal effort and nobody gives a shit except the fans. The coaches and management don’t care how poorly he plays or how little effort he puts in. He would not get this golden boy treatment anywhere else so I can’t see him accepting a trade.

If I compare it to the 2016 off season it gets a C. Eriksson is the ultimate low end of the bar. He’s a thief and a horrible example for the young players.

Hey they can't all be assholes...

Mr Eriksson has provided elite defensive play... a good mentor for the kids in that part of the game.

And as I said at the time, the contract becomes more and more trade-able as time goes by.

(low real dollars to cap-hit ratio)

The signing has not effected the rebuild negatively... and the positives are of the placeholder/mentor variety. :mex:
