I honestly think he may be the worst UFA signing in the history of the organization. At least Messier was only here three seasons. This slug is here for another four years.

There should be a poll for rating Elmer’s performance during the free agency period. For instance last year he picked up a decent player in Del Zotto on a reasonable contract but then whiffed on Gagner, Weirdcrotch, and the Russian kid. 1/4 so I’d give him a D+ maybe a C-. You tend towards a failing grade if he signs ANYONE in UFAgency (cuz UFAs tend to get "overpaid")

... but you'd also give him a failing grade if he didn't sign anyone (cuz he didn't address needs).

I find it difficult to believe any team would trade for the lazy piece of shit.

I also think he knows he can hide on this team with minimal effort and nobody gives a shit except the fans. The coaches and management don’t care how poorly he plays or how little effort he puts in. He would not get this golden boy treatment anywhere else so I can’t see him accepting a trade.

If I compare it to the 2016 off season it gets a C. Eriksson is the ultimate low end of the bar. He’s a thief and a horrible example for the young players.

Hey they can't all be assholes...

Mr Eriksson has provided elite defensive play... a good mentor for the kids in that part of the game.

And as I said at the time, the contract becomes more and more trade-able as time goes by.

The signing has not effected the rebuild negatively... and the positives are of the placeholder/mentor variety.
