Everyone knows JB/Brackett are way better in the later rounds after the 1st than pretty much any other canucks management/scouting crew in franchise history. They are a killer scouting drafting combo.
Easy..... Beasley. Wait till he unearths a Bure, Scatchard, Schaefer, Sopel, Aucoin, Cooke, Odjick, Walker, Valk.
Pay Quinn and Mike Penny rule the day here.
Pavel Bure was one of the great late-round steals of all time, but that's a credit to the hard work of the whole staff in accumulating the evidence that he was eligible.
Agree that Odjick in round 5 was a good find, but I invite you to review Quinn's work in the earlier rounds of the 1990 draft and see if you want to reconsider that assessment. Ordinary hockey message board poster competence in the first round probably gets Vancouver the Cup in 1994.
Just replying on the fact you said players fell into his lap, just so - it doesn't mean a team will take em like some teams will go off the board and take a different player.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

Like is exactly what happened to have said player like be available to us.

I think everyone agrees that we've seen... by far... the best drafting in Canucks history under Lord Benning's watch.
And before you say "well that's not saying much", note the by far.
Just one of the many reasons so many folks call him "genius"...
No Bure yet, hell no even a Linden or a Nedved. Maybe stand down a little bit and let things play out

I’m fine with giving JB credit for players that “fall” to him at times (e.g. Hughes, Pettersson, etc.) so long as we all can agree that the sword cuts both ways and give him shit for passing on superior players at times (e.g. Nylander, Pasternak, etc.).
Invincibility lies in oneself.
Vincibility lies in the enemy.

Fixed for accuracy

So it has been a few days and we are mostly all sober.
What grade would you give JB for his drafting in 2018?
I give him an A this year. Was pretty pleased to see him get Hughes and Woo. If Madden is even half as good as his Dad we got a steal. The Russian kid sounds like a world beater and
I would like to see him in camp to see how he performs against NHL’ers. I still remember Bure and what a magician he was with the puck. I’m not saying this kid can do the same things but let’s see how good he is. If he doesn’t work out oh well.

This said with the benefit of 20 years of hindsight....
Debatably, at the comparable points of their careers, Boesser and Horvat could be said to have the same impact on the team as Linden and Bure, considering the different eras of hockey we are talking.
The 'Chain of Command' is the chain I am going to beat you with until you understand I am in charge.

I was responding to the drivel that Elmer was the best drafter in franchise history. He may well turn out to be, but it’s asinine to annoint him as such at this time.
Bo Horvat was not a Jim Benning pick
