Canuck News and Notes - 2018-2019

Re: Canuck News and Notes - 2018-2019
I think the Canucks did a masterful job of downplaying Boeser's back injury, but lets not forget just how bad that was. Tony Romo had a similar injury and it effectively ended his career (he played 5 games in 2 seasons following the injury). Cam Newton suffrered the same injury in a car rollover accident, but it was the offseason and he was 6 months from camp anyway.
I'm sure Benning knows this as well, and is going to give Boeser a fair bit of rope to play back into shape/form. He now has ended his 2-game pointless streak, so its a little early to send him down...

Agreed, sending him down other than a conditioning stint is not necessary. He has the skill and the IQ, he now needs to obtain the fitness and other tangibles that comes with maturity. If the Nucks were 2 - 1 we would not be talking about this as much but fans want reasons to yell and scream and there is only so much we can throw at the goalies and defence.

Hey, look; I think Brock is safe to play but not totally free of pain. That's what my eyes tell me.
I also think the extra weight may have been by design, to some degree, a sort of padding, as it were.
If this is the case, he's showing his team mates grit and determination.
I think that's what I'm seeing.

I'm curious as to who said we are demoting or sending Brock down for anything but a conditioning stint?
That's exactly what I read everyone implying. Let him get into game shape!
The speed at which he's moving out there right now he's far more likely to get injured again playing in the fastest league on the planet.

If he was in any jeopardy whatsoever, he wouldn't be playing anywhere. IMO.Aaronp18 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 10, 2018 12:58 pmI'm curious as to who said we are demoting or sending Brock down for anything but a conditioning stint?

If Boeser is 100% and has no back or wrist issues whatsoever, then IMO it's ok to let him work through his rust in the NHL....buuuut if he's still feeling it in his back a bit, like he said he was in beginning of camp, they should take all precautions for Brock and get a 2nd medical opinion or maybe get a conditioning stint in Utica, I mean he's waiver exempt still.
A long time ago, a baseball player remarked: "If I owned a ballclub, I'd hire a $5,000 coach and a $15,000 scout."

My concern is this is his second season in a row where he showed up several steps behind where he needs to be.Uncle dans leg wrote: ↑Wed Oct 10, 2018 4:23 pmHes never had an NHL slump til now. If I’m the mother you are definitely the granny covered in piss and pus and a nightgown with brown stains in the back and yellow ones in the front.
