This is obviously a huge promotion for RC. Hard not to wonder if his departure had anything to do with Linden leaving too.

Don't know but you see where he's going. Wow! Think most would jump at that.
Don't follow the hoops much at all but I think it's a promotion. ;)

Too bad.
I’m not sure. He’s part of the medical staff that has seen the Canucks be among the league leaders in injuries the past few years. Coincidence? Not sure but there is a legion of posters on this board that think injuries have cost the Canucks a playoff spot the last two seasons.

Ya, but then there's me that thinks with a healthy LE, we really would have had better odds.

He was also supposed to be a guru for injury prevention... that didn't go so well for him either.

Guys got a lot of accolades on his resume + he's on his way to a dynasty in progress but in all honesty, we are demographically challenged, not new news and the Alberta teams not far behind. It's never going to be easy.
On ice practice is extremely limited during the season so dry training has to be done.
Generally, NHL guys are pretty family oriented, (even the young ones often), so they may not be doing enough prep work.
These days, shifts are shorter but more intense.
I assume his job was to help some with specific requirements, rehabs, etc., but they have to find the time to do it.
from what I understand, access on the road is sometimes, difficult.

The stress level on NHL and I suppose, NBA players took a huge spike after 9/11. There is no fast tracking in security just cause your on a team.
Gotta be ugly at times.

Then there's dress codes, social media addiction, I gotta look cool addiction and on and on.

But hey! Maybe we find a conditioning guru that makes all this stuff innate.

Oh, again with the demographics !

OK, maybe this word has some specialist meaning of which I am unaware.

Micky, what does this word mean to you ? Would you please provide a link to whatever group of specialists uses it with the meaning you offer?

I think Mickey Mouse just fires a bunch of shit (random thoughts) against the wall hoping some of it will stick.

“Vis a vis and notwithstanding Iraq and Iran produce oil while India produces rice and the Ganges River is dirtier than the Fraser River and Donald Trump has bad hair as Rosanne Barr has a fat ass.”

I wonder if he fell off a roof at Essondale

Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

Oh, again with arrogance! Or so it would smell.

The word means what it means. It is up to you to educate yourself in regards to "all" it's potential applications in regards to this team and where it plays.

"Group of specialists"? Are you kidding me? I still work part time in the field of demographics.

Quite frankly, I think your just in a bad mood or simply f==king around because if your as intelligent as I thought you were, you would know
damn well why I wouldn't even consider going into all the details on why the team is demographically challenged.
Not on a public forum.
It isn't only geography, although that is involved. It is never only one thing.
Ah, screw this; Why bother.
Tell ya what, RG, maybe you can call up teamster Blob and go marching together...

Perhaps he means that due to the large number of Asians in the Vancouver area, average height and weight is lower than what would be optimal for NHL players? Or is it perhaps a lack of people in a certain age range, is Vancouver greying, or is there mostly women in the BC area? Not enough Swedes?

Heck, could be a number of things, but I agree, it is hard to know what he means. :drink:

Demographics is a marketing tool. It is invaluable when trying to achieve better success in a business, which an NHL team is.
Dictionary definitions can make it sound racial. It is not.
Grow up.
For the record: I did not derail this thread, but of course I had to answer to the peanut gallery.

OK Micky, here's what the word means to the rest of the English-speaking world:

"Demography (from prefix demo- from Ancient Greek δῆμος dēmos meaning "the people", and -graphy from γράφω graphō, implies "writing, description or measurement"[1]) is the statistical study of populations, especially human beings. As a very general science, it can analyze any kind of dynamic living population, i.e., one that changes over time or space (see population dynamics). Demography encompasses the study of the size, structure, and distribution of these populations, and spatial or temporal changes in them in response to birth, migration, aging, and death. Based on the demographic research of the earth, earth's population up to the year 2050 and 2100 can be estimated by demographers. Demographics are quantifiable characteristics of a given population.

Demographic analysis can cover whole societies or groups defined by criteria such as education, nationality, religion, and ethnicity. Educational institutions[2] usually treat demography as a field of sociology, though there are a number of independent demography departments.[3]

Formal demography limits its object of study to the measurement of population processes, while the broader field of social demography or population studies also analyses the relationships between economic, social, cultural, and biological processes influencing a population"

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demography

Now could you please explain to the rest of us ignorant louts how this affects the injury rate of the Vancouver Canucks? Because I assure you, the relationship is not obvious to us non-specialists.

No, demographics is the study of a population based on factors such as age, race, sex, education, income and employment.

You might want to analyse the demographics of a certain group or region for marketing purposes, but demographics in itself is the science of studying and analysing populations by dividing them into different categories and comparing the size and trends of these.

It could have to do with pretty much anything, which is why we had no clue what you were talking about.
You were just saying that there was a problem with the population.

RG even suggested you may be using the term in some more specific meaning than it normally is, and now you have confirmed this. You are talking about demographics from a marketing perspective. Thank you.
Now that we know this is how you use the term, we may even begin to understand what you are talking about.
