I’ll bet he got hit by a puck or was hacked on the hands and isn’t 100%

He had a back injury Jan 3-10, having a sore back really hinders your game /life even.

Supposedly there are a pile of scouts at this game, maybe Granlund is getting showcased. I could see them wanting to get zach playing at this level the rest of the year.

SKYO wrote: Thu Feb 07, 2019 3:51 pm Remember when people were saying Markus Granlund only got 19 goals that one season because he played with the Sedins?

...well dude has 9 goals so far playing with 4th line checkers this season and that's while leading the team forwards on the PK TOI with a whopping 130 minutes killing penalties, 2nd only behind our defensive machine Tanev.

Just saying maybe Granlund has some decent scoring ability - while not just playing with the Sedins, cut dude some slack.
Agree, dude. Thing is people get too easily mesmerized by fancy dangles and even if someone doesn't produce, or have any clue of the defensive end, all is forgiven.

But hockey isn't played that way. Not in the pros, not in beer league. You NEED the "little things" types if you want to be successful. This team would be nowhere without EP or Marky. They'd also be nowhere without the bottom-6 playing their game, without the PK, without the swiss-army knife deployment of Beagle, Roussel, Loui, Motte, Sutter and Granlund.

These are all placeholders but you need good placeholders. Sometimes it's even worth overpaying so you don't waste your young talent with a support cast of AHLers.

Markus Granlund reminds me of Ondrej Palat, but where Palat is a playmaker two-way type, Granlund is more a goal scoring penalty killer/two-way type, plus Palat has been playing with frickin' Stamkos and Johnson, not just penalty killing and playing with 3rd/4th liners like Granlund.

Granlund and Eriksson can hold a monopoly on “little things” if that’s what earns them a paycheque in the bigs - on the 4th line. Scoring 9 goals so far would be good for a 4th line winger on a good team. To think he should be sniffing a top-6 spot shows where this team is. Trade him for what you can get. Where this team is at, Granlund’s space is better used for someone who can be a useful part when the team is ready for the playoffs.

If so, he must be thinking of Petey, that's how he lost all that weight...

I like Granny as well. He's very under-rated, an unsung hero type. He's a bargain player right now @ $1.5M (9Gs for a mostly 3rd-4th line guy). He doesn't have the jets, but he's decently skilled, is a smart player and works his butt off. I remember BoHo saying earlier in the year that he wanted Granny on his line cuz of Granny's work ethic. Granny is a jack of all trades guy too, can play centre when needed. He seemed to improve in the faceoff dot in his limited time there, which shows he's a guy who's constantly working to get better.

Dude, what kind of under-the-counter bath salts are you doing? That doesn’t sound coherent one iota.

Granlund does not belong anywhere near a top-6 spot on the roster. He’d make a decent 4th liner right now on a contender, maybe fetch a 3rd rd pick. Somebody like McEwen can fill Granlund’s shoes in the bottom-6 and at least show what he can give the team moving forward. Granlund is what he is and has hit his marginal ceiling. Trade him while he has a modicum of value. It will only go down from here on in.
