Brock Boeser is becoming a really streaky type scorer, he looks lost without Petey.
Boeser didn't need Pettersson to make things happen last year.
I see it as a combination of: 1) grown dependency on Pettersson; and 2) growing pain for sophomores, especially when you always get marked or double-teamed

I like the MDZ trade. Schenn gets to provide stability in Utica and provides depth in case people on the blueline start going down. Roster space opens up as well. If Benning had to retain salary (what, for this season and one more? Pffft) so be it.
Boeser is going through sophomore struggles. It happens. Both him and Horvat are just going through a dry spell - it happens.
If it keeps the team motivated but still in the lottery, I'll be happy. The team isn't ready for the playoffs yet. The rebuild is not over.

shifting a body to Utica without waivers
oh well
Opens up the ability to bring up another player from Utica for try-outs. Good move imo.
I just worry that retaining on MDZ might cost us on another trade, as we are retaining our 2 allowed salaries. But, it's a moot point if Benning is planning to wait until July 1st to make more trades with retained salaries.

Strange as it seems, Boeser and Horvat are not jiving like one would think. The pass or shoot, shoot or pass decisions are commin up wrong,
much of the time. Indicates over-thinking, in other words, a confidence problem. It will dissipate in short order. They are both too savvy
to allow it to fester long term.
When Calder comes back on Friday I assume Brock is with him and ?
I would also guess Horvat and Baer are together, though I'm not sure Baer is quite up to it.
None the less, I want to see Jake "at least" get a few games with Bo. Not a few shifts, a few games.
Well that should help mgmt with contract negotiations from now till Sept.

He's probably a bit slower from that surgery/injury last year & sophomore slump, maybe give him the 6yr contract offer 6x6 should suffice a bit more than Horvat.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

Tanner Kero has been called up
Our new hero lol. likely does not see playing time.
Bo is questionable for next game
Still somewhat odd though when Gaudette ia already an NHL center.
Shocked they allowed Bo to come back last night. Must have quickly deemed it not too serious, (one would think).
Waiting on how much swelling I guess?
Looks like Horvat's knee hits the boards from the Kassian hit. https://twitter.com/vanessajang/status/ ... 5010503680
You can see the other team closing in on Brock more this year than past. I can't remember if it was FLA or ARZ game, but they had Goldobin in Pettersson's spot on the right hand side with Brock in his usual spot on the left hand side.
Goldy got a lot of looks and shot towards the net, nobody was closing in on him, whereas Brock had a player on him blocking the lane as soon as the puck was going near him.
Last night, Boeser took Pettersson's spot and Leivo took Brock's, again - the Oilers concentrated on Brock.
Patrick Laine has 6 goals in his past 23 games after making someone a Millionaire against St. Louis.

Kassian skated back to him and apologized.
Gaudette is not an NHL centre yet
