HW, helps the Bruins best players their vets are only 29-32 (Marchand, Krejci, Bergeron), while the Sedins are 37 whom already play a slow game to begin with.
But imagine the 2011 Sedins with the current Bo Horvat, Brock Boeser and Pettersson/Gaudette.

Re: February/March/April OOTS
I’m todays NHL the 30 year old Sedins would be 60 point players.....100 of those combined 120 points would be assists.
Hank and Dank feasted on the post 2005 lockout where the NHL had brought the whistles out en masses to boost scoring and we saw the introduction of obstruction penalties. Clutch and grab, ground and pound, style of hockey disrupts their cycle game and severely limits their attack because they don’t have the foot speed required to drive the net and force the refs to make calls.

36-year-old beer-leaguer plays 14 minutes for the Hawks as an emergency replacement (stops all 7 shots).
The guy hadn't played competitive hockey in 13 years (since college).
The guy is pretty funny!

Scoring when the Sedins were winning scoring titles was basically the exact same as it was last season (https://www.sportingcharts.com/articles ... e-nhl.aspx), and goals appear to be up this season.Mëds wrote: ↑Fri Mar 30, 2018 1:37 amI’m todays NHL the 30 year old Sedins would be 60 point players.....100 of those combined 120 points would be assists.

The NHL's "crackdown" on obstruction lasted for a couple of seasons. After that, the game might have been called differently than it was in the between the lockouts era, but there weren't whistles for contact. Players simply adjusted their game to not obstruct as much. That adjustment has stayed with the game. The strategy worked. If you think that NHL players obstruct like they did in the early 2000s, you have never seen an NHL game from that era....
Just like in a couple years, if the NHL keeps up its crackdown on slashing, players will reduce slashes to the hands -- though that's a crackdown that doesn't change much how the game flows, only one that reduces injuries and increases power plays.
We lived in a post clutch and grab world in 2010 and we still live there.
In any event, the kind of player who suffered in clutch and grab hockey is the kind of player finding success today -- smaller, quicker guys. Clutch and grab nullified speed, not strength. (And if you think the Sedins weren't strong as oxen in their hey day, you weren't paying attention).

I've never considered the Sedins to be weak pussies in terms of strength and ability to take punishment, merely in their willingness to engage and push back when getting unjustly abused.....and also their mindset that filtered down to the rest of the roster regarding payback. Get them on the PP.....that only works when you can actually score on the PP.UWSaint wrote: ↑Fri Mar 30, 2018 6:53 pmScoring when the Sedins were winning scoring titles was basically the exact same as it was last season (https://www.sportingcharts.com/articles ... e-nhl.aspx), and goals appear to be up this season.Mëds wrote: ↑Fri Mar 30, 2018 1:37 amI’m todays NHL the 30 year old Sedins would be 60 point players.....100 of those combined 120 points would be assists.

From 2005-06 until 2012-13, the Sedins dominated, or were at least very effective, point producers and drivers of offense. Injuries are probably the second biggest reason that we lost to Boston, but the biggest reason was that our cycle attack, and consistent commitment to the same plan of attack, a game that was easily disrupted by large, physical teams. Boston demonstrated that, then LA, then San Jose. All in the playoffs, but by the time we were heading into that 2013 lockout shortened season teams knew how to beat us in the regular season as well. We won our division, but only Washington had easier divisional competition. After the sharks swept us out of the first round it was downhill rapidly.
I've watched this team, and this league for 30 years. I don't for a second think that we have returned to the level of the dead puck era where the Devils were considered a template for winning with the trap hockey. And while the consistency of my interest waned somewhat following our exit to the Kings, I did watch this team enough to know that many things that used to earn us man advantages ceased to put us on the PP, and the times that it still did saw decreasing results as more and more "liberties" were permitted of the PK.
You said it UW, speed is the name of the game now, no question, and the NHL still calls the game tight enough that players who can really wheel draw penalties and get more scoring chances, players who have the foot speed of the 2010-2012 Sedins, are 60 point, second line players at best.....unless they are big, immovable objects around the crease who clean up tons of garbage and can run up 20-30 points on the PP......but those players are fewer and farther between now.

Yeah it's absolutely amazing how the dingbats who bring up the Bruins retool on the fly never bring up how their star veteran leaders are much younger and in the prime of their careers than the old men Sedins. Yeah let's not bring that up. Marchand and Beregeron are two of some of the best players in the game right now, but no, apparently it's all McAvoy and Pasternak who are doing it for them.
“Tyler Myers is my guy... I was taking to Scotty Bowman last night and he was bringing up his name, and saying he’s a big guy and big guy need big minutes to play, he is playing great for ya… and I agree with him… He’s been exceptional” - Bruce Boudreau
