I guess they could trade the first for two fourths and certain people on this board would spin that as a positive move.
Or they could trade it for 3 1sts and a bag of pucks.

Do you see how statements like that are kinda pointless?

And besides, who's to say how many times Benning's turned down opportunities to add picks because the price was too high?

2nds are valuable, Blob, they're used to acquire pieces like top-4D, top-6 wingers, 3rd-line centers, etc....not to move up 4 spots in a deep draft.

What Blob said is that, what is available where the Nucks vs. dropping back 4 spots is not worth it.

Have you countered his comment? :?:

Cherry Picker, I heard Benning say in an interview recently that the plan is to have EP play centre before long.
This is interesting.
The sooner he can develop a reputation of being a "Good-Guy" in the face off circle, the better.
Being on the abiding side of the face off rules in the eyes of the lines men, is a good thing.
Many benefits for sure.
However, all the other aspects of being an effective, dynamic, (hopefully), center, will take, I think, more time.
Doesn't mean he couldn't start taking draws pretty much right away though.

The whole board is pointless then. It’s calked discussion or debate. Even though the team should have and still should be collecting picks , one 2nd rounder isn’t enough to drop out of the top 7to 11.

I'm not really seeking to counter his comment, but I'm not the one who's been harping on endlessly about what a fuck-up Benning is for not acquiring more picks.

My point was that Blob has acknowledged that in the reasonable hypothetical situation, the price for adding picks is too high.

I suspect after this discussion that Blob is done with complaining that Benning "only" had 28 picks in 4 years, which means mission accomplished on my end.

Making a point that in a single particular instance it would be unwise to trade one pick for two does not equate to a blanket justification for all of JB's moves over the past few years or his failure to acquire more picks.

Just be happy you are not the tanking Coyotes seeing how the Rangers landed the excellent prospect - Lias Andersson with their 2017 8th overall pick for Stepan who turns 28 next month and his 14 goals he got them. Or you wasted your 3rd overall pick on Dylan Strome

Nope I’m not done. Elmer has still hemorrhaged too
many picks. He should be shooting for 9-10 picks per draft in a rebuild

Yep, that's not what I said ("blanket justification"), but good point.
