So does Hughes go back to college, he feels he’s NHL ready, or does he sign and play in Utica?
Some feel that Hughes can play in the NHL next season. Word is they are not overly concerned about academics and want to be in the NHL sooner than later. Quinton did play in the recent worlds. He’s smart enough on the ice to survive

Ya he’s been telling anyone who will listen he’s ready. I like the idea of signing him now and let him compete for a spot. Unlike a CHL player we can park him in Utica. There was also talk if he didn’t sign he might leave college and play a year in Europe. Seems like he’s chomping on the bit to get his pro career going. Maybe he just hates school.

How's bountiful doing tonight
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

Had a chance to watch this kid a little closer and i have to say...he is an exceptional talent. Wow. Chris Letang comparisons indeed.
Ok i retract my anti-shimp hate and humbly embrace the pick based on this kids unreal footwork and hockey sense. He will be a star for us for years. Instant top defensive prospect for the franchise and may even make the team next fall
Witchcraft... Oh, but it IS. A dark and terrible magic...

Hopefully you are correct. I get the hype on him, but do worry about his size.

Sens traded the 22nd to the Rags for the 26th and 48th.

Avs traded the 47th to Caps for Grubauer and Orpik.

Leaves trade their #25 for Blues #29 + #76
A long time ago, a baseball player remarked: "If I owned a ballclub, I'd hire a $5,000 coach and a $15,000 scout."

I don't know if a team ever had two in the organization at the same time until now.

But your Vancouver Canucks have Hughes and Leipsic.

And Benning allegedly tried to trade for Jason Demers. :eh:

Demers allegedly nixed the trade then... but I wonder if he'd do the same now.

Then trade for Zucker and we'd have them all.

ALL!!!

Erik Karlsson was listed at 5'11" / 165lbs his draft year

Quinn is listed at 5'10" / 178lbs

He's coming in as an offensive defenceman, if he were listed as a defensive defenceman there would be cause to worry about size.

Super pumped... player with high skill, arguably best skater in the draft, high intelligence. We need guys like this on the team especially the way the game is being played now. If Zadina had been available it would have been an interesting choice but Benning said they would have taken Hughes regardless.

There are still some great players left on the board too and I’m confident Judd will make another great pick.

Quinn Hughes believes he can play for Canucks 'right now'
https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/qui ... right-now/

How can this not make you smile. I'm betting Canucks sign him to his ELC. They need the hype to sell tickets. If he can't crack the Canucks he can develop in Utica.

With him and Juolevi knocking on the door Jim needs to make some hay, grab some more picks for 2019.
