Dobson now a memorial cup champion.
Damn, he looked good shutting down the Pat’s top line.
No points but +2 and 7 shots in the championship game.
The defense just dominated the second period, hardly nothing got to the net.
This is very confusing. He’d look pretty nice in Canuck colours.
Great skater, they said he might be 6’4 now.
Might be a better choice than Tkachuk or Boqvist after all.

For Dobson and the Memorial Cup, I'm just a wee bit wary of those Cup championship play a tad, as my hopes were up for Cole Cassels after his play vs McDavid and his team.

Cole Cassels has been the man in the spotlight for the Oshawa Generals.

The versatile centre took most of the important faceoffs as the Generals beat the Quebec-champion Rimouski Oceanic and host Quebec Remparts in their opening two games at the Mastercard Memorial Cup.

Perhaps the biggest so far came late in overtime against the Remparts. Cassels’ draw back to defenceman Stephen Desrocher for the winning goal gave Oshawa a 5-4 win in a game it dominated but was in danger of losing thanks to Zach Fucale’s brilliance in the Quebec net.

The two had combined on a similar goal in a 4-3 win over Rimouski.

"We knew Steve has a great shot and he gets it off quick," Cassels said Monday. "It worked out twice for us."

The 20-year-old Cassels, a Vancouver Canucks prospect whose father, Andrew, is a former NHL centre, is playing his best at the right time for the Generals.

Linemates Bradley Latour and hulking Calgary Flames prospect Hunter Smith, as well as top defence pair of Josh Brown and Dakota Mermis, got much of the credit for limiting the damage from projected first overall draft pick Connor McDavid and the Erie Otters in the Ontario Hockey League final.

Coach D.J. Smith has the luxury of having two faceoff aces, Cassels and Montreal Canadiens first-round pick Michael McCarron, and decides before each game which one to match against the opponent’s top centre.

"A lot of winning faceoffs is digging in and battling, and he battles all the way through the draw," Smith said of the six-foot-one 190-pound Cassels.

His offensive numbers have climbed in each of his four OHL seasons, all with Oshawa. This year he had 30 goals and 81 points in 54 games. Smith’s strong defensive game as well as being a right-hand shot has Smith seeing Cassels as a second-line NHL centre, third-line at worst.

Cassels isn’t looking that far ahead just yet.

"It’s a process to get to the NHL," he said. "It’s a big step, but right now I’m just focused on the Memorial Cup."

Cassels said his father gave him many pointers on faceoffs, but mostly he picked up the skill by working with former Generals players Boone Jenner and Scott Laughton.

Still Dobson has good upside, if he's there at #7 I think JB takes him.

Lol Cole Cassels was a third round pick who was 20 years old at the time and he couldn’t skate. Dobson is a fantastic skater and projects as a top 6-8 pick as an 18 year old. Yeah these guys are identical

He had a great season though. He got more exposure in the Mem Cup for sure but he has been climbing the charts all year. He is going to be a top pairing guy for someone’s team for 10-15 years

Yeah there is pretty much no chance Dobson is available at 7. We are picking from a group of Boqvist, Bouchard and Wahlstrom. Benning and his scouting staff is quite unpredictable, who they’d pick of those 3 is tough to say. I’d lean towards Wahlstrom

The infamous top 3: sabres dahlin, habs svechnikov, canes zadina the top 3, I think habs could trade up to secure Svechnikov (they have a billion 2nd rounders this draft) and Canes might want to ice Zadina and Necas together.

#4 sens, #5 yotes, #6 wings, #7 canucks, #8 blackhawks, #9 rangers
In no order these guys should get taken in the top 9: wahlstrom, hughes, dobson, boqvist, tkachuk, bouchard. Also why the Canucks shouldn't trade out of the top 9, and/or they should try to acquire the Hawks or NYR 1st somehow while keeping the #7.

I think it is a top eight and Bouchard will be number nine.
I think the best comparable to Bouchard is Paul Reinhard.
He was a step slow but an excellent pp qb. He had a great career.
Not a bad player but it seems the league is getting smaller and faster.
He might have trouble with the speed.

Reinhart was a very good skater. He had a bad back, otherwise his careeer is 15 + years instead of 10.

Likely it was his back then. I just remember him being less mobile, but he had great vision and passing skills, which is what I basically expect of Bouchard.

Reinhart was one of favorite all-time Canuck dmen, right up there with Jovo and Ohlund.

Twas truly a shame about his back.
