That said, in 2019-20 they're going to have a handful of guys in their age 23-25 years (Bo, Boeser, Goldobin, Gaudette, Virtanen) plus guys like Juolevi and Pettersson and probably this year's 1st rounder on the roster.
It's not a murderer's row but insulating them with Edler, Tanev, Gudbranson, Sutter, and [whatever the product of 18 months of non-disastrous cap/UFA management is] could give you a playoff team.
And I don't think hockey ops has the freedom to just decline to compete for the playoffs.
