Yeah I guess it goes with the territory, but they're viscous over there about these things
So, you're saying they're thick?

Sad news. We all have great memories that had his voice providing the backing.

Ashbridge was so fantastic. I met him the summer of the Sundin offer, and I got him to do a call for Sundin from Sedin and Sedin.

We were truly lucky to have him in our barn.

Totally agree. Guy had Velvet pipes not like that blimp that used to do the Leafs games Paul Morris

Also way better than the air raid siren-voice in Edmonton.

@botchford: Canucks have had like four teams call on Brandon Sutter. Brandon Sutter is the guy that has had the most calls on this offseason. And that shows you that there is a lot of teams that need a centre
Yeahno, only Brock and Bo played more minutes per game than Sutts... and no Hank next year.

Hang up on them Jimmy!!

He had a better year than his previous two here but if you can trade him and get back a decent young player and a pick the trade his ass outa here. He can be replaced in free agency. At least they are getting calls on Sutter. I can’t see anyone calling about Louis, unless they were thinking he could help pull a bank job or jewel heist

What if jimmy feels he's got a good shot at a veteran ufa placeholder (like Son of Yan), do you still hang on to Sutter?

Sutter could get a 2nd, with the bird dog asset the helm I think that would be enough of a return, especially as it frees up cap room for expensive short term placeholders.

Yes I still hang onto Sutter cuz...

Horvat
Stastny
Sutter
Gaudette

Keep Sutter until Gaudette/Pettersson become a better centre than he.

We have more than enough cap room already and plenty of time to get that 2nd for Sutter.

Like Tyler Johnson and other smaller players, Petrus Palmu will likely need a solid two years of AHL development to properly prepare for the NHL.
Never drafted Tyler Johnson needed an extra year in junior just to earn a free agent ELC.

To be sure, 18 year olds typically haven't reached physical maturity when it comes to body development and strength. Those who have are the exception. It isn't a surprise that top NHL draft picks are full of these exceptions -- I am sure there is a correlation between development and athleticism and success at young ages (getting them attention, thus getting them more early advanced development training, therefore widening the already existing gap between those players as pee wees and bantams and juniors as compared with their peers). It also isn't a surprise that those same top picks are most NHL ready.

Of course there are exceptions. Some pencil neck kids (Gretzky, anyone) can be NHL players and succeed as pencil necks. Most (e.g., the Sedins) need to add strength to have a good NHL game. (The Sedins could have been sticks and had an okay NHL career, but it was when they added the strength that they made the jump to excellent players).

My point is not to disagree with you, Skyo, but to note that whether a player needs time in the AHL is mostly a function of how good are they. Palmu doesn't need AHL time because he is small (he is never going to be big and will always have a strength disadvantage); he needs it because he is a 6th round draft pick who has done well and hit all reasonable positive expectations for a player of his standing when he was drafted, but hasn't exceeded a reasonably optimistic development curve. That Palmu will be in the AHL at all and has potential still to possibly make the NHL makes the pick a pretty good one. Some 2017 6th rounders from last year's draft could probably already be considered written off.

Wrong.

I've been saying he has always played top-6 minutes.

Which he would continue to do in the scenario above (#1 PK unit).

I would be playing Petterson at C with Sutter on the wing. Sutter can take the faceoffs while Petterson learns. It would inject some much needed playmaking into the Sutter line.

Sutter can continue to do his patented solo dash one on 3 drives while Peteresson is wide open on the side of the net
