Fancy way for saying broken back the examples of the transverse process are Derek Carr last year with the Raiders and Tony Romo vs the Seahawks the year before... Didn't look right still not happy the way he was attended to on the ice and it was eerily similar to Mason Raymond take care of your investment and your future...

After an Alexei Emelin hit separated his shoulder during Friday’s game against Nashville, left wing Sven Baertschi is out for the season.

Waiting for Gaudette Godot.
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

Not sure of all of Romo's injuries and his recovery time but the injury vs Seahawks occurred wk 3 preseason and he wasn't cleared til around week 10 of the regular season then he called a presser saying Prescott was the guy and didn't see the field until week 17 in a meaningless drive of the final regular season game...

I think Carr came back relatively early from said injury not 100% sure tho

Romo fractured the transverse process in his back in two places against Washington. He returned two weeks later to beat Jacksonville in London.

Source on Boeser injury : "Not career-threatening and not a serious injury but can't see him playing again this season. Best to shut him down, there will be a few weeks of discomfort."
Wouldn't surprise me to see him again this season, he's a tough kid...

Good to hear it's not as serious as it could have been.

Tough kid or not, shut him down for the season and let him heal up, what with his taped-up wrist and all. What's to be gained by him coming back ASAP just to play 5 games or so in a meaningless end to the season? Hope Brock and GMJB take the long view and get him aimed at prepping for next season. He has a long career ahead of him.
Love the Sport. Love the Team.

Hate the League.

Nah shut him down, it'll help the Canucks' negotiating power when his contract is up after next season :P

I was going to post earlier that this injury might help Canucks' negotiating power (they could extend him this off-season)

... but I didn't want people to think I'm some kind of asshole.

Motivation for Brock to come back soon.

And here's more motivation, he's close to more performance bonuses this season:

Stolen from somewhere:

"Transverse Process Fracture
A transverse process is a bony protrusion from the back of a vertebrae bone in the spine. There is one on each side of every vertebrae in the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine.

Transverse process fracture symptoms
Transverse process fracture of the spine include sudden pain in the back at the time of injury. There will be decreased range of motion of the affected area of the spine and pain when trying to bend or twist the affected area. In particular there may be tenderness and swelling around the site of the fracture.

Transverse process fracture explained
A transverse process fracture is quite a rare injury. It usually results from a sudden extreme twisting or side bending movement. Occasionally it may be due to a direct impact to the process itself, although they are pretty well covered by muscle to this is not common.

Avulsion fractures of the transverse process may also occur in the lumbar spine. The Psoas muscle attaches to the transverse processes and a strong contraction of this muscle may cause one or more fractures.

Because of the location of the fracture it is unlikely to cause any instability of the spine or any damage to the spinal cord.

Treatment
If injury to the vertebrae is suspected always seek medical attention at soon as possible. An X-ray will be taken to confirm the diagnosis and the extent of the injury. The presence of associated injuries should also be investigated due to the level of force required to fracture a transverse process. CT or MRI scans may also be performed.

Providing there is no associated injury and the transverse process is not displaced, then the majority of fractures are treated conservatively, without surgery. A brace may be used to ensure the spine is kept still and straight to allow healing of the bone. A gradual introduction of spinal movement can be used once the bone has healed and the patient is pain-free."

So why, once again, was this kid not stretchered off the ice. As paddy keeps saying this is shades of Raymond. Concussion protocol? I think we need a spinal injury protocol.

His season is done. The Calder was slipping away barring him getting another 10-12 goals.

But that chance to set the Canuck rookie record is lost to him. Really too bad for the kid.

But heal the back. Heal the wrist. Put in a workman's summer and get ready to lead the team next year.

And why bring up Boucher? I'd rather see Molino or Cassells. I mean it's an audition right?
The only HW the Canucks need
