Rick Dhaliwal
@DhaliwalSports
As expected, Pettersson got all the max bonuses in his contract. #Canucks
Well, hey: Houses and condos are pricey here, right Jake?

Actually, I saw that TV clip of Jake and his place.
Pretty nice.
Think maybe he had a little family help there. ;)

Is there any D man we could draft this year that may get a shot on the team for next year?
It's extremely unlikely the player we get at #7 this year will play in the NHL next season.

Says he's up to 177 lbs now and can begin full training in 3 weeks (when thumb is healed).
Still looks very frail in that photo. I hope DHA's projections about what can be accomplished in a summer of training are more accurate than mine.

Also, whether or not there remains a general role for an enforcer in the NHL, the Canucks really want a scary psycho thug to skate on Pettersson's line, whether said thug can play hockey or not.

You talking about a Tom Sestito type ? J/K.

Here's the thing though. It's not just Pettersson, it's still Brock too.
After Dorsette went down for the final count, didn't see a hell of a lot of enforcement, pay-back, call it what you may.

It's tricky though. Most assuredly it's great that your policeman / men, have some skill too, but not so much the team becomes dysfunctional
when they sit out a wrist slap.

We could do with a true fighter though. IMO, it's better to fight, even staged fight then take a run at someone that the league will see
as retaliatory.

Works best if you can get everybody on board with the idea of accountability.
Green was preaching it but I didn't see much of it.
Not yet anyways.

If your local, Benning coming on 650am radio within a couple of minutes to talk about Pettersson.
Pettersson says he feels ready for the NHL and comfortable at centre or wing.

Says he's up to 177 lbs now and can begin full training in 3 weeks (when thumb is healed).

Maybe he can afford to buy his parents some decent furniture.

That table looks like a wire spool with a coat of paint.

Hand to God, when I saw the pic the first thing I thought was:

You don’t think they should have a bodyguard of some sort for the kid?

He is tiny. Or is Sheriff Gudbranson enough to deter all the players league wide from hammering the shit out of the kid?

Trust in Lord Benning is what I'm saying.

And I didn't like the "cap gun" crack, nor the "get murdered" bit.

Virtanen would stick up for him, but smart little guys like EP tend to survive anyway these days.

Does Johnny in Calgary get murdered?

Did Marner get murdered after Martin was relegated to the press box in January?

With Martin out did the Leaves even have anyone as tough as Virtanen?

Don't get me wrong, I believe in assholes... where would we be without our assholes!

A coupla assholes who make it clear that if you target our stars we'll target yours... are always nice.

Just have faith Jimmy will get another asshole in here, faith in Virtanen's toughness, faith in EP's ability to survive.

Oh yeah, couldn't resist.

That cast is a busted scaphoid. Small bone in the thumb, did mine in a motorcycle accident. 6 weeks, no problem.

Re: Puck Possession for EP

For Pettersson it's just being smart like the Sedins, being really aware of where everyone is with 360 vision, positionally smart, don't be flying into danger zones, learn to make plays to get defenders off you at the opportune time, don't stay around the net/crease too long as that's where the 'crease clearer's' are in their zone to wreak havoc.

Puck possession for he and Dahlen will be paramount, that's how the Sedins lasted even though they weren't fast or built like Rod Brind'Amour, they just kept moving around, making plays, then went into the slot when they saw an opportunity to strike quick and score.

A long time ago, a baseball player remarked: "If I owned a ballclub, I'd hire a $5,000 coach and a $15,000 scout."
