Well that's just setting yourself up for failure. Even if you polled everyone on this board (even though, as you [patiently] explained to me, you hate polls) about whether they were excited about the [Canucks'] future, you would need only one sourpuss holdout to fail.
See, that's part of the reason why I said I hate polls

... some people will always vote opposite to how they truly feel.

Soooo Cliffy, have I "set myself up for failure"... or set myself up for success. :sly:

RG, it's pointless trying to get Doc to elaborate on his rationales/metrics for the timeline, deliberately vague for a reason.

Well here's ole Nucklehead, late to the party yet already hammered.

Try to focus on 1-2 years from now.

Canucks will have made the playoffs and looked good enough to have folks clamouring aboard the train.

(the obvious metrics of a non-top-team making the playoffs is 90-ish points, unless they change the system)

My clearly stated rationale for this timeline:

- Old core must be gone (read Sedins).

- The evident genius of James Elmer Benning as a builder of a new core.

A bold prediction from the Great Strangelove (and He made it 2 years ago!).

Tis a shame you are not man enough to make bold predictions about the future of my Canucks. :mex:

Good grief? Reef.
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

With the current lotto system, 5th is the best we will ever get

Remember the good ol' days when the worst team got 25% odds for 1st overall and teams could not move up more than 4 spots, nor a club would not move down more than one position in the draft order.

Ah yes, those were the days...when the Canucks never "tanked".

Nowadays the team that tanks has a better shot at 4th overall, but that has to be one of the worst teams ever to tank that bad, it truly is a lottery with bad odds that get worse if you lose that first lotto pick.

So to increase a teams chances at acquiring talent in the draft, the best way is to acquire more picks & have good quality scouts.

ps time to move Edler for picks/prospect.
A long time ago, a baseball player remarked: "If I owned a ballclub, I'd hire a $5,000 coach and a $15,000 scout."

I remember the best old days before 1995.
Go back to that and make owners sign a "Level of Compete" clause that could be investigated, if need be.
An investigation would not only involve owners, presidents, GMs and coaches but player interviews as well.
To be done swiftly and decisively...

The only "bone" I have, if any, is this whole genius malarky. It is so absurd that the only reasonable explanation is that you are posturing. If anything, Benning will be successful because he lives and breathes hockey and puts in the hours.

I think the team will be better but I have no idea how much. I keep thinking back to what a hot goalie can do for you (King Richard)
