Benning just said that he is going to try to sign him and bring him over for next year to play in the AHL.

And no salary retention in the burrows trade, thought for sure we'd retain.
Jim Benning: "It's been a hard day. Alex Burrows has been the heart and soul of our franchise for a long time."
Benning: "Me and Pierre (Dorion) have been talking for a few days. Jonathan Dahlen is a player we've had our eye on. He's a goal-scorer."
A long time ago, a baseball player remarked: "If I owned a ballclub, I'd hire a $5,000 coach and a $15,000 scout."

Thanks.

Was just reading that he is indeed eligible to play in the AHL next year. No brainer for the kid. Get your ELC signed, get over to prospects camp and try to make the team, if not go to the AHL.

No idea where that will be. Hearing Canucks need to replace both Utica in the A and Alaska in the ECHL.

Dorian saying Burrows turned down trades to other Atlantic division teams. Ottawa stepped up with the extension which was the deciding factor. Burrows did not want to be a straight rental. Dorian glad to do the extension for giving up Dahlen.

Good for Benning - I've been as critical as anyone of him but I will also give him credit when I like something he does. This is exactly the type of trade he should be making. It doesn't make up for the bad deals and last year's deadline but it's definitely a step in the right direction.

Now we will see what else he has up his sleeve - less than 48 hours left. My guess is at least one more trade and perhaps more than that.

Good trade, considering Burr was a pending UFA and we couldn't trade him for anything last year. Nice to get a decent prospect for him, rather than letting him walk for nothing.

Dahlen sounds like a potential Granlund type.

Per must be ecstatic that the swedish tradition goes on for the Canucks!

Benning's second round picks seem to be standing out the most to date. (either draft selection or used as trade chips)

Wow.

I'm impressed with the return. Like others have said, if Benning had got ANY 2nd Rd pick last summer for Burrows, people would be doing cartwheels. The fact that scouter Jim has had the kid on his radar increases my appreciation for the return.

Sad to see Burr go. One of my fav Canucks during that Era. I think everyone knew it was time to say goodbye. He gets another couple paydays.

From my fav team to my second-fav team! Time to get a Shersey!!!

Look forward to seeing this Dahlen kid next year.

Definitely share the bitter-sweet sentiment. On its surface, looks like a good deal that Benning has been able to pull off. Sad to see Burrows go (and like Meds, would have liked to see him retire a Canuck), but definitely like the potential that Benning was able to grab in Dahlen. No complaints here.

Link to highlights. Yes it's Swedish -1 league, but this guy will be better than Granlund for sure. It will take time don't expect this guy in the line up till 2018-2019. Great value for Burrows.

Fantastic Work Jim!!! What a good return for Bur.

I can't see Hansen still here after trade deadline...more to come.
