Elias Pettersson one year in SHL, then one year in the AHL should be his development timeline.

Making his debut in 2019.

Well at least half a season in the AHL, could get called up half way through 2018/19 season if he's looking like he could handle the pro's that quickly.

But two solid years of development after the draft would be preferable.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

That's a reasonable timetable. I think though that is is highly dependent upon his physical development more than anything else. Smaller players have shown they can play in this league so I think he will find a way to play in the NHL but I'd still like to see him put on a little weight.

One of his problems maybe the team he plays for in the NHL  may not have enough team toughness to allow him to play here. So mayb his development is just as much about our team development as anything else.
The only HW the Canucks need

Trust me: That's too much.
For hockey, you not only need strength but endurance too.
Are we trying to create 40 second shift wondermen?

Oh well; They can always call Vince and get a job with him in the WWE if hockey fails....

& now Champions Hockey League time for the Canucks young center...
The Champions Hockey League was launched prior to the 2014-15 season with 26 first tier teams from 5 leagues across Europe. The amount of teams and qualifications have changed over the couple of years with 32 teams now comprising the CHL.

Elias Pettersson (Vaxjo Lakers – SHL)

He started the game slowly, it looked like he was relying on his teammates to make plays but as the game went on, his confidence grew. He started to make the plays himself and clearly, it paid dividends. His on ice awareness became quickly apparent as he buzzed around the offensive zone.

Shortly after that chance late in the game, Pettersson waited to retrieve a puck to look at the clock. He was able to read how much time was left and slow the play down rather than rush the play. It was just another subtle glimpse into how aware the Canucks prospect is about everything going on.

He played LW on the first line during 5 on 5 play and was on the right point on the 1st powerplay unit.

He ended the game with 2 SOG in 16:17 of ice time.

Vaxjo defeated Bili Tygri Liberac 4-3 in overtime.

Elias scores the game-tying goal and Växjö then wins 4-3 in ot.

And here is the game vs Davos (Swiss team):

Apart from Pettersson the Växjö Lakers also sport former Canuck prospect Daniel Rahimi on defence and former Duck/Oiler Viktor Fasth in the crease.

Pettersson looked to be on the ice for all 3 goals. That's a great sign

This is precisely what he needs to do this year in the bigs... create offence and factor into each game.

If only Silent Y could play with the same jam as Rahimi.

Unless Dahlen takes Rodin's spot out of camp, he'll be playing Tic-Tac-Toe with Elias this time next month. 8-)

24 hours and I'm on vacation. :drink: :mex:
