Per, any idea on who the last teenager was to win the playoff scoring race?

Also, I assume you're watching the games. What can you tell us about Daniel Rahimi's play? Is he a top 4 on Vaxjo?

Not sure if it ever has been done. When he won the regular season it was the first time a teenager had done so since Kent Nilsson in 1975/76.
I also believe they are the only two who have done so.

I thought of Silfverberg, but he was actually 21 when he did.
It was a huge breakthrough, though, he was named captain of his team mid-season when Dackell got injured and decided to retire, and he earned a cabinet full of hardware:
- SHL Best Player (Guldpucken) 11/12
- SHL Champion 11/12
- SHL Gentleman of the Year (Rinkens Riddare) 11/12
- SHL Most Valuable Player (Guldhjälmen) 11/12
- SHL Playoffs MVP (Stefan Liv Memorial Trophy) 11/12

Let's see if Elias can top that! :drink:
I mean, he could get the rookie award as well, you know....

In Peter Forsberg's only playoff as a teenager he had 5 points in 3 games. I think his PPG average will be tough to beat, but he obviously wasn't the leading scorer in those playoffs, as Modo were a first round elimination.
BladesofSteel wrote: Thu Apr 19, 2018 8:45 pm Also, I assume you're watching the games. What can you tell us about Daniel Rahimi's play? Is he a top 4 on Vaxjo?
Yes. I'd say he is a solid three. He has been third in ice time both in the regular season and the playoffs.
Originally behind Martinsson and Welch (former Penguin/Panther/Lightning/Thrasher), and as Welch got injured behind Martinsson and Lundberg.
He is a good minute and a half ahead of Rasmussen in fourth place, probably because they use Rahimi extensively when shorthanded.

He is generally considered a role player; big, tough aggressive, sandpaper, but he does a great job keeping the area in front of his goalie clean. No one parks there and gets away with it. And as he has shown in the final, he actually has decent hands for a guy considered a strictly defensive d-man. I say he has become a lot more well rounded than he was way back when he tried out for the Canucks.

Jimmie Eriksson in Skellefteå is a Tomas Holmström kind of guy (but grittier and less skilled), who likes to park his ass in front of the opposing goalie. He has been freaking invisible in these games. Sort of. If you look closely, you can see him and Rahimi involved in the exchange of slashes, pushes, shoves, etc, but Rahimi is just so damned good at pushing him away from the crease that they rarely are seen in front of the goal.

Did Gillis give up too early on Rahimi?

Mmm... Not sure.
Not extremely skilled and prone to brain farts.
But he has managed to make a decent career out of it.

http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=3856

Then again... The Canucks have had some blueliners in recent years that he might have been able to compete with... :?

He's not really NHL calibre though, imho.
But pretty decent SHL standard.
Second pairing d-man on a pretty good team in the SHL is probably exactly the right level for him.

Has the league decided to go to 6 hr intermissions between periods for recharging?

No need. They already have power breaks in place.

It’s quite rare that there is less than 6 hours between games. I don’t remember it ever happening. And nowadays Teslas can keep going through quadruple overtime without a break. And really how often do teams play past quadruple overtime?
