Do not agree with their rankings but whatever.

Look at who's writing the article...

Last year, his list was as follows:

1. Boeser
2. Dahlen
3. Juolevi
4. Demko
5. Gaudette
6. Goldobin
7. Subban
8. Brisebois
9. Lockwood
10. Virtanen

And this year he's saying...

1. Pettersson
2. Juolevi
3. Demko
4. Dahlen
5. Gaudette
6. Lind
7. Gadjovich
8. DiPietro
9. Palmu
10. Jasek

But really, does anyone care what The Botch thinks?

I think most here would pretty much agree with this year's list though.

(Blob might want to bump Juolevi down, others might want to move DiPietro up)

Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

Maybe one of you pc pros can find out more.
I'll just be a little less on edge when he says, I wanna Rock in Vancouver in 2018.
Wait... you're worried Pettersson won't sign with Canucks? :wow:

After he's signed will you worry he'll get hit by an asteroid fall off the roof.
I like it!

Pettersson should be fine, Patrick Kane started his NHL career at 18 turned 19 in Nov 2007.

Pettersson will start at 19 turning 20 in Nov.18', exactly the same age Nicklas Backstrom started his career 19yrs old->20yrs old in Nov in 2007.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

I am finding myself damn excited about how a top line line of Petey, Besser and possibly Wahlstrom/Tkachuk might look out of the gate next Sept.

Finally turning the page on the Sedins feels very refreshing as well...

Wonder if the team will still kick the soccer ball around the hall ways before games.
If they don't, maybe there'll be less injuries.
Wouldn't that be a kicker.

Sweden becoming World Champions for the second consecutive year also means that apart from winning the Swedish championship, winning the scoring title, setting a new all time record for points scored by a junior in the SHL, being named rookie of the year, regular season MVP, best forward and playoff MVP, Elias Pettersson also has won gold at the world championship.

Quite the year for a nineteen year old!

Wonder how he is going to top this next season? :|

The winning comes after the masterful rebuild.....

All I can do is ask that people try to see the magnificent masterpiece Jimbro is painting...
Ronning's Ghost wrote: Wed Jan 24, 2018 11:44 pm Sure, and if there is no winning, then there was no Masterpiece. Hence my assertion that more data (i.e. wins after the rebuild is complete -- next year was it ?) is required to declare that Jim Benning is a hockey management genius. Yes, that will mean that he was a genius the whole time, but the evidence isn't in yet.

But it seems we agree: we need evidence of a Masterpiece (Championships) to conclude that the painter/composer/architect was (yes, all along) a genius. If that evidence appears, you can rightly claim you were ahead of the curve and saw it in the mix of the pigments, the first chords of the overture, the layout of the scaffolding and cut of the stones. I want to see the Masterpiece before I proclaim genius.

The open question is how many seasons is a fair shot at it before we say "That's it, give up, you're just smearing paint around the canvas -- now give someone else a try" ?

Say you've injured your knee, and it doesn't work very well. It might get better with conservative therapy, but it might need surgery. Surgery has its downsides, so you try conservative therapy first (plus the surgeons insist on that).

So you diligently do your physiotherapy, and look for signs of improvement. You're very interested in the timeline of your improvement, because you need to determine whether this course is going to work, or whether you will need surgery. (If you need surgery, it's better to get on the list sooner.) It takes patience, recovery trajectories vary, but sooner or later, you have to say "OK, we've tried this long enough, and we are not happy with the performance, its time to try another treatment modality." (Or yes, maybe "Wow, my knee works great ! Brilliant job, medical team !")

A reasonable question for your surgeon and physiotherapist is, how long is long enough ?

If you want to assert that 4 years is not long enough to assess the work of an NHL GM, I'm sure a reasonable case can be made for that. But it is still fair to ask how much time is enough.
