Re: 2016 Free Agent Hunt
I was all for acquiring EK from the 'Peg last year. But following his unceremonious departure and continued off-ice issues with Buffalo, I'd be extremely hesitant to acquire such baggage.
He doesn't fit the mold of "character guys" this regime typically targets.
No more drama, please.
Landeskog, now there is a young talent I'd be honing in on.

With all his baggage and issues off the ice, nobody wants Evander Kane.
It'll be Kane's last chance at redemption before he falls out of the league, blowing all his cash on hookers and blow.
But if they take Burrows and Sbisa for Kane and Franson ok.“He’s not going to be easy to get rid of. I don’t even know if you could give that guy away with all his baggage, but that’s what’s coming from their GM.”
Certainly, the former fourth overall draft pick’s baggage is considerable, to say the least. He previously had issues in Winnipeg and his ability to attract trouble has followed him to Buffalo.
The latest incident involving Kane happened while the NHL was in Buffalo last week, for the draft. Two crime reports were filed by a couple of women, who claim he physically harassed them at a downtown bar early on Friday morning.
Regardless of how this matter pans out, it’s tough to argue with the 24-year old repeatedly putting himself in compromising situations. Coming so soon after being investigated for committing a sexual offense at a local downtown hotel (no charges were ever filed) you have to question his ability to make a sound judgement.

Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

Re: 2016 Free Agent Hunt
Guessing we try for Eriksson and don't get him as he would want to go to a contender at his age. I say we sign Brouwer and one other - perhaps a guy like Boedker, or if not him a lower free agent like McGinn, Purcell, Helm, etc.
I don't think it will be a banner day for the team but they will do ok. Would be happy to be wrong.

Kane has made poor off-ice decisions though...
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.
I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

Haven't you heard. Benning isn't talking. Something about tampering!
Seriously, no I haven't hear anything, one way or the other.
The only HW the Canucks need

Cool, I wouldn't mind seeing the Cracker come back.Hockey Widow wrote:Canucks talking to agent for Cracknell. Also reaching out to Jooris.
I dunno abt that. Ladd, Wheeler, Buffy and Maurice would probably disagree.Strangelove wrote:

If the E.Kane rumours are true Benning has to at least inquire. It's his duty as a GM. That could solve some of our scoring woes, and he is young enough to be a core piece going forward.
Landeskog is the kind of player you go all-in on if you can. GMJB better also be inquiring about this.
As for FA's ... I mentioned it elsewhere but if Eriksson is JB's #1 target, he should offer him a contract that expires the same time as the twins, with a loose NMC. Personally, I don't think Eriksson is coming here unless he is playing with the twins, and think we should not have him lingering around in his eldest years. This is the only way I would like an Eriksson signing, shorter term, even at a bigger hit.
If that does or doesn't work out, I think they should look at Brouwer, Helm, and Boedker.

In Okinawa, all Miyagi know two things: hockey and karate.

Cross Helm off the list of potential signings...not a huge loss. He was probably staying in Detroit once Stamkos was off the board.
