20th and 53rd is a good price to move down 4 spots, losing Datsyuk's cap hit is even better.
Agreed. You could argue 20 and 53 for 16 is fair straight up, never mind adding the contract.

Who would have thought hiring the youngest, most inexperienced GM would lead to something like this? Arizona got taken to school here. Kid thinks he's still playing EA NHL lol

Ken Holland on the other hand, I tip my hat to you.

How the fuck did Holland pull that off???

Not only did he dump Datsyuk's contract but he actually gained a 2nd rounder along with a 1st rounder lol.

Yeah, although I do think the Datsyuk cap problem was overblown. It's not like Arizona is going to be paying him anything, nor would they be spending anywhere near the cap. If anything, it helps them artificially lower their cap.

But why make that part of the deal? Taking it off Holland's books has to be worth something on its own. Now he goes for Stamkos.

From which side? Detroit makes it a condition of Arizona taking Chychrun at 16. Arizona accepts it because they want Chychrun and the contract doesn't affect them at all. Win-Win.

I mean the deal seems fair as it is w/o even factoring in Datsyuk's contract. Holland was in a jam and it seems like the Coyotes took that on as a throw-in. The deal doesn't add up, Holland probably can't believe it.

Devils taking on cap hit get a free 2nd.

Canes taking on cap hit get Teuvo Teravainen for a 2nd & 2017 3rd.

Coyotes taking on the biggest cap hit as a huge favor to Holland and get a 1st for a 2016 1st & 2016 2nd. lol

Except that Datsyuk, unlike Bickell, won't be paid anything. For team that operates on a budget, it allows them to ice a team UNDER the salary floor, if they wanted to.

Who's my Homie, shopping cart? I'm saying Holland made a great move getting 2 picks to move down 4 spots and gain the cap space they need to go after Stamkos.

I've had enough of tanking. It leaves a bad taste.
