Tipping point is that I don't want to see another western team get their first Cup before we get ours.

Pittsburgh takes game 2 in OT. Bonino with yet another assist on a Kessel tap-in.

Penguins 2-way and defensive game is impressive. San Jose can barely get 20 shots through regulation. Thornton looking seriously frustrated.

I think I'm going to step out on a limb and predict that Pittsburgh is going to win the cup... :D

Whatever happens, Pitts has a bizarre "goalie controversy" to look forward to. So that should be fun to watch.

Both Tampa and Pittsburgh have a goalie controversy. At least the Pens don't have to make a change right away whereas Tampa has to choose between Bishop and Stamkos moving forward. I think Calgary jumps in to grab someone, or at least they should try.
The only HW the Canucks need

Not very nice to say but I just want the damn thing over so our "wheelin and dealin" can begin in earnest.

Speaking of wheeling and dealing this is how Rutherford got his infamous HBK line -

Spaling, Harrington, Kapanen, 1st, 3rd for KESSEL, Biggs, Erixon, 2nd.
Sutter, 3rd for Bonino, clendening, 2nd
Perron, Clendening for Haglin

Out: Spaling, Harrington, Kapanen, Sutter, Perron, Clendening, 1st, 3rd, 3rd.
In: Kessel, Biggs, Erixon, Bonino, Haglin, 2nd, 2nd.

Kessel deal looking like a master trade, as he's carrying the Pens to the Cup, leads the team in scoring with 19pts & 10 goals.

Phil Kessel is showing why secondary scoring is paramount to NHL success to the Cup after the top line.

Bruins, Hawks, Kings all have had awesome secondary scoring after their top line when they won their championships, with some cheap ELC on the 3rd line and big/gritty 4th lines that can play/score a bit.

It is why I think JB just needs to trade a couple vets to clear some roster space at this point, while getting a pick or two, & then go for an UFA gunner up front for the top 6.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

Gotta say Pittsburgh's defense looks pretty shitty compared to all the recent Cup winners though, sans Letang and Maatta, but yup doesn't really matter when you got HHOF crosby/malkin/kessel up front.

Dumoulin - Letang
Maatta - Lovejoy
Cole!? - Schultz!?

----
Bruins 2011
Chara - Seidenberg
Ference - Boychuk
Kaberle - McQuaid

Kings 2014
Muzzin - Doughty
Mitchell - Voynov
Martinez - Greene
Regehr

Blackhawks 2015
Keith - Hjalmarsson
Oduya - Seabrook
Cumiskey - Rundblad
Timonen - Trevor van Riemsdyk
Rozsival ir

--

Looking at those championship defensive pairings, seems apparent we should keep a rock solid vet dman on our 3rd pairing, so I concur with SL, keep re-signing Hamhuis to one year deals to avoid expansion draft hits.

Edler - Tanev
Hutton - Gudbranson
Hamhuis? - Tryamkin
Sbisa? Pedan/Biega/Stecher

Not me. I love playoff hockey. Also I like Crosby as a player and want the Pens to rip SJ. Maybe my final reason is the biggest. Kessel is making them in T.O. eat a ton of crow. He may win SC p[layoff MVP also known as the Conn job. He has done exactly what they got him for. You cannot just shut down Malkin and Crosby. It is the difference maker.

I thought Justin Shultz was the difference maker?
