Canucks sign Archibald to AHL deal. Looks like no Canucks for him.

Daliwal reporting Canucks speaking to agent for Dwight King. Guess Benning wants some more 4th line toughness to support Dorsett.

King is a decent player with size but he isn't particularly physical. Had a couple of real good playoff runs with LA . He throws the odd big hit but is very inconsistent. His brother DJ was an animal though.

Looks like we lost Rollie to the Devils. Clootch going to look after both NHL and AHL goalies?
Try to focus on 1 year from now...

Not the best plan but it just happened so I guess we give it some time to figure that one out.

From SN

“I want to thank Trevor Linden and the Vancouver Canucks organization for allowing Rollie to join the New Jersey Devils,” Devils general manager Ray Shero said via a press release. “Rollie is well-respected throughout the League as a teacher and his experience with various goaltenders will be very beneficial. Additionally, I have enjoyed working with [former Devils goalie coach] Chris [Terreri] the past two years and am very happy that he will remain with the organization. His knowledge and passion will help us continue to grow as a team.”

Tough loss for the team as he has done wonders for our young goalies but Dan has been doing a great job too and Markstrom in particular enjoys a close bond with him. The biggest loss might be for Demko development, or not.

Demko is important enough for this franchise moving forward that I would think he may have some say in who
he would like to work with.
It's a big distance to just go with one guy, but maybe it can work.. :?:

I certainly hope he does not have a huge say.

Too young and inexperienced to be able to make a sound decision.

Funny, I would think the exact opposite.
Many of the goalie coaches today are actually the ones trying to catch up with the newer style most younger tenders are employing, not to mention equipment that is vastly different from the cowhide, triple the weight, gear they played with.

Even Miller didn't have a say. If a player wants to hire their own personal coach they are free to do so. But players don't get to choose the coaches a team hires. Demko' first experience with a goaltender coach was through the Canucks. Hardly qualifies him to hire or suggest a future coach.

Heck, Markstrom's development was stunted because the Panthers never had a goalie coach. He doesn't have a say in who the Canucks hire now.

Demko is no one special to assume he has some say or sway.

Goalies are a completely different situation than all other roster players, IMO.
I could try and explain it further but why bother.
I'll just give you two a +2 and myself a -1

Heck, Cloutier is still wrapping his head around goalie masks versus helmets!

Well, if the saying that "those who can't do, teach" is accurate, Cloutier must be an elite level coach.

How many NHL games has Mike Babcock played?
