I think that's actually a reasonable projection, if the ownership/management group thinks the long-term strategic advantage outweighs the cost of making an enemy. Underestimating the importance of League politics was probably Gillis' biggest downfall.

Good example. Lesson learned.

Canucks qualified Reid Boucher, Nikita Tryamkin, Brendan Gaunce and Joseph Labate, but will not Cramarossa

Does anybody actually know, what exactly was offered in regards to a contract to Tryamkin. Money?, Term?
I think I remember, HW saying it was something similar to Hutton's.

I would have offered at least 3 mill per 2 years for sure.
But I would have been willing to make that ONE-WAY.
That isn't often done and actually not usually asked for in similar situations.
I'm thinking it may well have been the problem.
One-way simply means, you can go down to the minors but you get the same money.

Horvat, Chaput and McEneny also qualified today.

Looks like Zelewski, Garteig and Cramarossa were shown the door.

NO no, I know that. You have to do that to retain his rights.

Wasn't he subject to the usual rookie max type of contract? Other than the stipulations he loaded in there about the minors I suppose...
If he wants to be a giant marshmallow its probably best to let him stew in russia until he starts smelling the NHL paycheques he's missing out on.
Whats the bet when the team turns the corner and starts winning he wants back on the bus

Zukenov signs 2 year deal in KHL as expected. Now that Jasek and Zukenov are both there on 2 year deals we really do have spots open in Utica. Neither player wanted to play in the AHL but this apparently isn't a sign that they want to forgo the NHL. I guess if we recognize it as development we still retain their rights but don't eat up contracts. Let's see how they develop over the two years. Don't have a sense of loss about either though, just a feeling I don't like drafting Russians anymore.
The only HW the Canucks need

I don't mind these guys developing further in europe. It is a good way to have room to check out and develop other players without losing their rights. Neither was going to make the big team and might even have struggled at the AHL level. This way they can learn their craft and be more NHL ready when they do arrive. It takes time to properly develop players and I am happy to see the canucks not rush players that aren't ready. As you see they learned from their mistakes. It is hard to be patient but the team will benefit in the long run.

To my surprise, the Canucks are actually getting a break from the schedule makers.

- 2nd fewest back to backs
- 4th most miles-traveled in the Pacific (behind EDM CAL ARI)
- middle of the pack for games facing "tired" teams and games as the "tired" team
- 0 games playing tired against a rested opponent at home (which apparently is the situation where rest is most determinative of the game outcome)

Zukhenov and Jasek are bottom of the barrel prospects. Neither projects as an NHL player

NHL doing their best to keep us in it. Gotta love the parity!

19 year-old and 20 year old taken in the 4th and 6th round two years ago.

Odds are they won't be NHLers based on where they were drafted

... but you're a little premature as always there Mr Poopy Pants.

I've heard some good reports on Zhukenov, haven't personally heard anything on Jasek.
