Lineup Predictions 2016-17

You'd think the Canucks will sign a free agent winger - and most likely it will be Lucic (LA) or Eriksson (Bos)... my guess is Loui Eriksson. McCann and Virtanen will likely bounce back and forth to Utica... and players like Gaunce, Zalewski, Grenier, Friesen, Kenins, Cassels, etc. don't look likely to stick in the top 14 NHL forwards. It seems likely that Chris Higgins will be bought out, and Hamhuis and Vrbata will walk.
On defence, Philip Larsen will arrive, a hopefully more-in-shape Tryamkin, and I guess there's an outside chance Jordan Subban could crack the lineup as a powerplay specialist...

Daniel - Henrik - Eriksson
Baertschi - Horvat - Burrows
Rodin - Sutter - Hansen
Etem - Vey - Dorsett
(Granlund, Virtanen)

Edler - Tanev
Hutton - Biega
Sbisa - Larsen
(Tryamkin)

Miller - Markstrom

Welcome to last overall - is there a phenom available at 1st overall in 2017?

Why Erickson? He's too small. Also, we have about $11 million left over given your projected line-up. We can find a true #4 D-man (sorry Biega, you ain't it), and another $4mil forward, or an $8million forward instead of Erickson. I also think Virtanen will be up all next season.

O.K. I'll give this a try:

Sedin, Sedin, Etam.

Okposo, Sutter, Hansen.

Baertschi, Horvat, Virtanen.

Dorset, McCan, Rodin.

Tanev, Hutten,

Edler, Sbisa,

Tryumkin, Subban (this could be fun)

Markstum/Miller

I'm just messing around, God only knows

I am not advocating Eriksson, I just predict that Benning thinks Eriksson is the new Vrbata - Loui has shown some chemistry with the Sedins. I think the Canucks would prefer Lucic, but I'm guessing he signs an extension in Los Angeles before free agency.

I could see the Canucks either re-signing Hamhuis, or going after another top-4 defenceman in free agency - (maybe Kyle Quincey, Keith Yandle, Luke Schenn, or David Schlemko?) - but opted to stick with the obvious.

I think its more likely the big money goes to a defenseman than a forward, Yandle would be a guy worth $6 mil-ish and would step in to the top pairing.

I wonder if Eriksson's stock has risen this year, he went from a 70-point player with Dallas to a 40-point player with Boston. He might crack 60 points this year, but that's with top-line minutes and PP time. Unlike Lucic, Eriksson might have to accept a shorter term contract or lower salary.

Some comments:
- Etem as a 1st line winger?
- Okposo signing I could see as a second choice to Lucic
- What happens to Higgins? Burrows? Biega? Larsen?

Then wouldn't Drouin be in the NHL lineup? You'd hope he beats out Gaunce, Grenier, Etem...

Your lineup is a lot more exciting than my prediction! But then you reminded me that Benning is the GM.

Oh shit, I missed Drouin. I guess we trade Hansen too.

With all the trades we will have a few more draft picks, some this year, some 2018.

Drouin will get the third line, Sutter moves down to the fourth replacing Hansen.

Hahaha - that is the problem with Sutter, isn't it? At $4.375M he should be in an NHL top 6, or at worst an "elite" 3rd line center... but he isn't.

Yes but when injuries hit, and they will, we have a centre to step in or he can move up with the twins and Stamkos can drop down to the second line. Flexibility man, flexibility.

Burrows for a 2nd

Higgins (50%) dealt

Etem + 2nd for Dustin Brown in a cap dump deal, so Kings can re-sign Lucic.

Sedin - Sedin - D. Brown
Hansen - Sutter - Rodin
Baertschi - Horvat - Virtanen
Dorsett - Granlund - Gaunce/Grenier
McCann to AHL 50/50 split NHL games.

Edler - Tanev
Hutton - new top 4 dman, target (shatter?)
Tryamkin - Sbisa
Pedan Biega

Miller/Marky

Ya, that'll be a big problem when he's pushed down the depth chart behind Hank and Bo and the additions of Stamkos, Drouin, and Matthews

Besides, with that lineup Sutter would earn his paycheque as the team's only penalty killer

ROFLMAO!!!!!!

A 2nd rounder for Burrows? You're killing me SKYO.

Dustin Brown? WTF? Dude, I thought you said you were clean these days..... :P

Shattenkirk is gonna be 27 or 28 and isn't a stud, he's just a good top-4 guy who is going to ask for $6M and has benefited from playing on a deep blueline on a top team.
