Oh - and I don't really care about "growing the game" - I just think the league talks about one thing and does another. I'd rather see contraction than expansion (unless they put a team in KC)

I've read that the NHL is interested in the 2022 Olympics in China.Aaronp18 wrote:This is what I really don't understand. Yeah, they definitely aren't interested in the 2018 Olympics in South Korea though.
Maybe they don't want their players getting too close to some crazy fat kid or something?
Did Vincent Viola tip them off about something?

FWIW if the upcoming thermonuclear war goes the way I envision it... the Leaves will end up in KC.Cornuck wrote:Oh - and I don't really care about "growing the game" - I just think the league talks about one thing and does another. The Flames aren't going anywhere. Nowhere for them to go really..... the o/g sector will pick up and they'll build an arena in the next few years. They can last a few more years in the Cattle Dome.

The air was so bad, they couldn't breathe just walking across the street from a hotel to the ice center.
Feb-Mar., is when the air is supposed to be at it's best.
Heard it said one day there is equivalent to smoking 4 to 5 packs of cigarettes a day.
Sounds like a good place to grow the game, eh?
Can't imagine the equipment rule changes...

I'm surprised NBC hasn't squeezed the owners a little harder about not participating in South Korea. Something tells me we haven't heard the end of this.

Henrik Sedin once said Mr Bettman would never get his Salary Cap.

During an exclusive interview with Prime Time Sports on The FAN 590 in Toronto on Tuesday, Bettman said the league is “not looking to negotiate” its position of not participating in the 2018 Winter Games in South Korea.

Stupid decision. They are just thinking short term.
Americans have only 20% of the players but own like 80% of the teams, and as usual they don't give a fuck about the rest of the world.
Here's Erik Karlsson's view:
