Can I just take a moment to say.. it's just fucking sports, dude. Like honestly.Arachnid wrote:Loser!Mëds wrote:0-4 to finish please.Hockey Widow wrote:All we have to do is lose to LA and we pretty well guarantee a bottom six finish. I know that doesn't translate into a top six pick but it gives us odds, slim, but still odds. Really though outside the bottom three the odds difference is minuscule.
So, lose to LA, then beat the crap out of Calgary and Edmonton, then get a better lottery pick than them.
At the end of the day who gives a fuck if the team wins or loses out of a meaningless season - this is garbage time my friend, the last half of the third period of a game where the team got stomped by a legit hockey team (or to step out of the analogy, the entire rest of the league).
Who gives a fuck if a fan, wholly unconnected to said sports team, determines that losing out or winning out is better.
Who gives a fuck about your taunting on that particular subject?
Who?
At the end of the day nothing Mëds or you or I (but especially Mëds) thinks about this team or league affects them, or even matters, really. The league is a cartel of owners protecting their financial and other interests and the way they do so produces perverse outcomes like the one in which there are five or six teams who, by losing as much as possible over the last few weeks, can secure a better position in the entry draft (where there can be a huge dropoff in talent after any of those positions.. 1-5 or 6.. in any given year).
You can go on about this or that culture, and be largely right with respect to how the actual hockey team manages its affairs (if hilariously misguided when applying the same reason to how the peanut gallery views them) while still missing out on the fact that you're basically just pissing into the wind.
