Canucks Special Teams

Post by SKYO »

It's time we talk about this Canucks Nation.

Powerplay

Penalty kill

And the newly minted "exciting" three on three OT, to me this is where Desjardins needs some guidance and cajones.

Enough playing it safe OT, the 3 on 3 is a lot different than 4 on 4 where you can still play a chess like game, but 3on3 is all out speed and skill, the true game changers will thrive in this atmosphere.

So much space in this new format it's the gamebreakers that need to be in on this, so imo WD needs to get McCann out there a lot.

I'd combine vets with youth for the trio's:

1) Sedins - Hutton

2) McCann - Vrbata - Edler

3) Baertschi - Horvat - Weber

4) Burrows - Sutter - Hutton
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

I'd put the three best shots on the team together out there

Vrbata - McCann - Weber

What I've seen 3-3 is teams get a lot of looks at the net with no traffic in front - give any of of them a couple of cracks and good things will happen.

What?! No Hansen? He may not have a shot but his speed may be a difference maker.

That would be killer, Weber would much more effective on the 3on3, as he doesn't have to worry about hits etc, just open ice hockey.

McCann makes too much sense on the 3 on 3, WD betta recognize!

That brutal giveaway in OT cost him. :D

What about Horvat losing Benn?
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

Too bad they don't play 3 on 3 for the first 5 minutes of the game ...

I'm an extremely humble poster here on CC..

@VanCanucks
#Canucks worked on 3-on-3 at end of practice. Coach said McCann will add to the overtime and help team with his speed.

I think Tanev has to play with the Sedins. If the puck is turned over, he's the only one fast enough and committed to coming back.

Hansen and Horvat have shown chemistry in the past.

I like the idea of having our best shooters out there together. The opponent won't know who the triggerman is.

Intriguing 3on3 practice as #Canucks try-out 91-17-2/53-36-6 with staple 22-33-23 then for fun 18-47-27 come out
tryout... McCann - Vrbata - Hamhuis/ Horvat – Hansen- Weber

staple... Sedin – Sedin - Edler

for fun... Virtanen – Baertschi - Hutton

Agree . and his shot has improved a lot.. now shooting 12% and his checking is excellent..

So... Hansen , McCann, Hutton.. lots of speed and talent
Sedins Edler..
Vrbata Sutter Tanev
Burrows Hovath Weber

Not happy with Webers defensive ability.. maybe Hamhuis instead ?

Put the Sedins on separate units. Each with a fast skating shooter. Don't put your 2 best set-up men on the same line.

This has been tried. It fails epically. Henrik maintains his level of play but Dank disappears. They are both good playmakers, but Daniel's playmaking is more away from the puck, and transitioning the first pass, than with the puck. He's been the "tac or toe" in tic-tac-toe for too long.
