I would say this is unbelievable, but it's entirely expected. You just learn to be numb as a Canucks fan...

Who do we have to sacrifice to appease the hockey gods?
Try to focus on 1 year from now...

Well, I said from day one that #1 would go to the center of the universe...because shanahan, and center of universe. I firmly believe there is a guiding hand behind the scenes to help the odds. And we get the old familiar shaft....sigh.....should be used to it by now.....FCUK,,,,,,,,

The shittiest spot to pick of all the possibilities.

Barring the extremely bizarre, Tkachuk will be gone in addition to the top 3 which leaves Benning with nothing worth the misery we had to put up with this season.

I say fuck no to that soft frog Dubois; fuck no to girly Swede Nylander; fuck no to bonehead Chychrun; or Juolevi the pipe-cleaner in skates.

Maybe Benning can peddle this shite pick for a stud defenceman or something because the club got screwed - again.

I just can't get too excited about whoever the Canucks draft outside of the top 3. I know it's always a crapshoot and we should get a heck of a player in that spot but it really feels like we're missing out on the only generational players in this draft. I didn't care if we got the first pick, but I desperately wanted one of those 3. Everything else feels like a shitty consolation prize. Oh well only time will tell I guess.

#6 is LOL.

Iain Mac suggests Oil not picking a C, so they take Tkachuk.
No. 4 EDM not likely to take another C. Dubois could be outstanding fit for VAN as Henrik's successor as 1st C.

Enter Dubois, who brings a mixture of size and skill any team would covet. At 6’3 and just over 200 pounds, Dubois already has NHL-ready size.

Of course, size alone isn’t enough to get a player drafted, which is why Lawson Crouse dropped out of last year’s top ten. Dubois has much more to his game than size, however. He brings a wicked wrist-shot, which he used to devastating effect in the QMJHL this year, scoring 42 goals and a whopping 99 points for Cape Breton.
Now, if we’re talking a pure best-player-available strategy at the draft, Dubois makes a pretty compelling case. His 99 points are a huge feat for a 17-year-old (and Dubois is only 17, as he won’t turn 18 until… hey, June 24! What a birthday present that’d be for the kid!) his size is imposing, and he had a strong showing at the CHL Top Prospects Game in January.
A long time ago, a baseball player remarked: "If I owned a ballclub, I'd hire a $5,000 coach and a $15,000 scout."

There is a lesson in all f this. First, we will get a good pick, potentially a D man based upon Benning's latest comments of targeting a D in the 5-6 slot. So unless Edmonton passes up on a forward and takes a D, or trades the pick for a top four D, we will be OK.

BUT THE LESSON IS, if you are going to tank you have to go all in. For me I've had enough of the let's tank for a good pick. I want to win, I want to make the playoffs every year. No more hoping to finish as low as possible to get the highest pick we can.

Burrows job just may be safe!

Yeah Edmonton probably trades their pick.

Either way we are probably taking tkachuk/dubois.

And they will play another year junior.

Toronto takes Matthews, meaning we get Stamkos, that's the deal. ha

Well Skyo I'd be ok with that actually. I don't know enough about who's available at our spot, only really followed the hype on the top three. But I'd love to add Stamkos.

I'm happy for Columbus that they'll get a Finn. But Winnipeg moving up sickens me. Glad the Oilers fell a little and glad we pick before the Flames, for once

OK GMJB I've done what I could it's now up to you...

Another disappointment for the faithful...
Told y'all....5th it is and I was already there (based on my awesome & cool hockey IQ 8-) )and have pre-ordered my Canuck Tkachuk #7 jersey

Who the fuck cares if Laughs got McMathews...we knew the fix was in when it was Buttman behind closed doors...and he also made sure Oilers were punished and at the least the Jets in the East win something, good on them...
I love every move Jim Benning makes 8-)

I agree. You can't do a half-ass tank job. You win or you tank, there is no wishy-washy middle ground.

Aqua puts JB in a tough spot with his lack of foresight and mandate of playoff revenue. Maybe if he kept Torts, we'd have been in the running for McDavid and Eichel too.

You get kicked in the nuts for so long, you don't even feel it anymore.

I'm dubious about Dubois. I'd be happy with Keith Tkachuk Jr. though. Virtanen, Boeser & Tkachuk would be some seriously powerful power forwards in a few years.

Tkachuk is the only one outside of the top 3 that would make this past season of shit half-way worthwhile. Hopefully Benning gets luckier on that score than he did at the lottery.

Hope Matthews gets run over by a train after he's picked by Hogtown.
