The team is better defensively with him and Bozak gone.
Not if the replacements are Kapanen + Johnsson.
Yes. Both are better than Bozak and JVR defensively.
And technically, Kadri is Bozak's replacement anyways, and it's not even a debate which is the better centre defensively (And offensively)
I know players get better once they leave the leaves, but JVR scores great infront of the net on the PP. That's litterally all he does. He's very slow and very bad defensively. He's as one-dimensional as they come. That is why the leaves told him they were moving on, not the other way around. You can't pay someone that one-dimensional 7.5 million per for 5 years through his 30's. If he's as talented as a Phil Kessel, fine. But he can't skate and is a lousy passer.

No. They are both little one-dimensional hot dogs.
2nd/3rd liners Bozak, JVR, Komarov out of the top 9 this year
... 1st-liner Tavares, 4th-liners/fringers Kapanen and Johnsson in.
I think the Leaves are no better off offensively... and are worse defensively.
But of course you believe those 2 fourth liners/fringers will magically/suddenly become difference makers.
Did I mention JVR had 36 goals last year to Tavares' 37?

Of course they are worse defensively. They lost one of the top defensive forwards in Komorov.LOL
Boazk and JVR were just brutal defensively. leaves are better.
How many points did JVR have? How many points did Tavares have?

Was Stuckless more of an offensive player or a defender?
Would you classify him as a tweener?

leaves look ridiculously good and Matthews and Tavares have not yet played 1 game together.
And they aren't giving up many goals putting out their B defence nightly.

Quick someone hand Tuna the preseason stanley cup!
Christ on a cross, Ive never seen someone drain his seed bank over preseason results like you do.
You're like some inverse version of those hyper reactive canuck fans ready to give up on Demko four games into the preseason.
Yes, we know the leaves will score a billion goals this year, dominate their opposition, and end up at or near the top of the league standings. The question is can they outscore their defensive issues and goaltending when it really counts - in the playoffs. History tells us this is not likely.

If you had a choice you are picking Johnsson over Komorov for the Canucks. Stop it.
Wrong.

Less than 48 hours into Maple leaves’ training camp, Mike Babcock had already decided he wasn’t seeing enough from Andreas Johnsson.
Toronto’s head coach was stern in assessing the 23-year-old winger at the time, reporting Johnsson had “another level” yet to find in his game.
Halfway through camp, Johnsson is still looking for it.
In practice late last week, Babcock was harping on Johnsson and Kapanen to hold on to the puck and create offence, asking, “What happened to you two?
That’s not just a message for Johnsson. It applies to defenceman Travis Dermott as well.
Dermott is in a heated battle on the leaves’ blueline to retake the third-pairing spot he played in during the second half of last season.
Interesting!
Tuna has been raving about how these three are proven NHLers.
Johnsson and Kapanen to replace Bozak and JVR
... and within a year Dermott to move up from the 3rd pairing and replace Gardiner.
This is Strangelove reporting from the centre of the universe, back to you Tuna!

Tuna is a tard but I’d take Dermott in a heartbeat. He would be the #3 on this team immediately
That said he is a kid and wouldn’t play as a playoff teams third this year. Maybe as a 4 on a stacked d but the kid has a lot to learn.

I love how based on preseason they are all busts and I was proven wrong.
You called Leo Komorov one of the best defensive forwards in the NHL. You have no credibility.
And I said Dermott will replace Gardiner in 2019-2020... Gardiner is still with the leaves, no?

That is the way every young D is brought in. Should he have played a top 4 role on a playoff team immediately?
