Is the geek old enough to legally buy a beer? I'm guessing I have hair on my chin older than him.
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

His big battle was with Babcock to take Marner over Hanifin in the draft, which worked out well in the short term, but I think longer term Hanifin could be more valuable to a team. meh who knows.
Ya, I noticed that in the Toronto (slash national) coverage that Hunter was being praised for that pick. But the reality is, the leaves probably have to give up Marner to get a defenceman as good as Hanifin, so it's kind of a wash.
I would never trade Marner for Hanafin

The parade of former Canuck executives turning up with the Leafs continues. They've hired Laurence Gilman as Assistant GM.

Now they can find a legal loop hole and supersede the salary cap and worry about it later.

Hurricanes will definitely make a few deals over this offseason.

Leafs trying to bolster their blueline, and imo more open to making hockey deals with Dubas compared with Lou.
“The word out of Carolina is their open to doing a lot of things,” McKenzie said, adding the team is willing to listen on every player except forward Sebastian Aho.

McKenzie noted Toronto’s hesitation to move one of its top young forwards, like a William Nylander or Connor Brown, though suggested Brown could be in play if the right deal presented itself.

Maple Leafs GM Kyle Dubas will weigh his options this summer, as Faulk is not the only defenceman the team has been linked to. Toronto has also reportedly had interest in such players as Vancouver’s Chris Tanev, Arizona’s Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Los Angeles’ Alec Martinez and Columbus’ David Savard.

A long time ago, a baseball player remarked: "If I owned a ballclub, I'd hire a $5,000 coach and a $15,000 scout."

“rift between Babcock and Matthews”

https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/lea ... -agencies/

"Toronto Maple Leafs star forward Auston Matthews has switched agencies, moving from CAA Hockey to Orr Hockey Group."

https://www.tsn.ca/video/mckenzie-i-get ... gn~1415103

“I get the feeling Matthews & Marner want to wait until next summer to sign”

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So here's the plan.

Arizona offer-sheets Matthews next summer: 4 years times $16M

If Leaves don't match, coyotes get Matthews next summer.

If Leaves do match, coyotes get Matthews 4 years later. (as a UFA)
