TORONTO SUN: Steve Simmons reported hearing the Maple leaves could have signed Mitch Marner a year ago to an eight-year contract worth $8 million per year. At the time, however, they thought it was too much.

Lebrunn was just on TSN radio and said the exact opposite. He said Dubas very first meeting as GM in June of 2018 was with Ferris to lock Marner up.

How the fuck is that "the opposite"? :wow:

The fact is that Marner's camp was asking for $8-$8.5M X 8 years last summer.

Yes Dubas sat down to talk to the Marner camp last summer... AND

... the Marner camp asked for $8-$8.5M X 8 years... AND

DUMBASS SAID 'NO'!

(BTW $8M X 8 would turn into ~ $6.5M X 5 if both sides chose a shorter term)

Simmons is correct and he's not the first to report it.

(for a year now I've given links to other pundits saying the same thing)

You need to come to grips with the fact Kyle Dummy has screwed up the Marner signing big time.

Just as he screwed up the Matthews singing and the Nylander signing.

An experienced GM would have saved the team countless million$ on the cap going forward.

You know as well as I do thjat one day you'll be roasting KD over these very things in a coupla years.

Deja vu, it's the same thing over and over... love Burkie, roast Burkie, love Nonis, roast Nonis, love Lou, roast Lou.

Love Dubas, roast Dumbass. Image

Here is that interview on TSN today that you alluded to:

https://www.tsn.ca/radio/toronto-1050/p ... -1.1360068
(16:25 mark)

Lebrun: “The narrative that the leaves weren’t that interested in signing Marner last year because they were so focussed on getting Nylander done first… Dubas said that is not true. In fact the first meeting he took in as GM of the team in May 2018 was with Darren Ferris, Mitch Marner’s agent… they were interested (in signing Marner) it just didn’t happen.... No matter what Marner he ends up signing for, it’s more than he gets last summer. The apex of it is leverage for Mitch Marner was $8.5M per year on an 8 year deal.

So yeah, Lebrun agrees with Simmons, "The opposite"?? ROFLMAO

Hargraves is not a fan of a guy pounding the piss out of a guy when he’s down. Pretty cheap in Hargraves opinion

Yeah no. It might edge out Beirut or Kansas City, but you’d have to be a real tard to think Toronto is in any way better than Vancouver. Hargraves will bounce Tuna around like the bitch he is if there’s any more of that nonsense.

That list is weak as well. It has Calgary in the 5th position. Calgary is one of Hargraves least favourite cities.

I'm with you Blob. I did 3.5 years pennance in Calgary. Hated every second of it. Finally left the company Id been working for, for decades, and started over in Vancouver. Best decision I ever made.

Cowtown might be more livable if you have a really nice house because you'll be inside for 10 months out of the year

Actually, I really do like to visit Calgary but only during the summer.
