It is a slow day at work. The current Canucks Depth chart:

Cassels
Fox
Left Wing
Virtanen
Shinkaruk
Right Wing
Jensen

Subban
Liberati

When the Sedins, Burrows, Vrbata, Bieksa, Hamhuis, and Miller retire, (barring any major trades) the potential lineup could be:
Top Nine

Cassels Gaunce Grenier
A pretty combination of size, skills, speed, and grit.
Top Four
Tanev Edler
Corrado Tryamkin
It will be interesting to see how Tryamkin turns out to be, Malik or Chara.

http://mmqb.si.com/2014/08/11/johnny-ma ... am-rams/4/Chip Kelly Wisdom of the Week
I started this last week, and I’ll use something from the Eagles coach every week he’s got some wisdom to dispense. This week, Kelly on preseason depth charts:
“Seriously, the depth chart, I don’t care. I think [Eagles director of public relations] Derek [Boyko] did it. I mean, it’s absolutely nothing. I know we’re going to get questions on it, and I’ll be honest with you, I do not care how that’s listed. I said a long time ago, it’s written in sand, it’s written in water, it can be written in anything. That depth chart means absolutely nothing. The only reason we make one is because they [NFL officials] tell us to make one.’’
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.
I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

I agreed but it is the off-season with a slow day at work... Too much time to burn...Topper wrote:http://mmqb.si.com/2014/08/11/johnny-ma ... am-rams/4/Chip Kelly Wisdom of the Week

Re: Canucks Depth Chart
I can see a coach not having much interest in it, he has to focus on the 'here and now'. Why should he get interested or care about who his 4th safety is?

Re: Canucks Depth Chart
Pretty keen about the bolded. Gaunce appears to have taken big steps, and could be a bull of a 3rd line C. Centre is probably the most important position to be deep at, and the Canucks look to have some solid guys there. I don't know that any of them have top-flight offensive chops (McCann might be the most gifted offensively), but they have some great 2-way guys there that should do well in the gritty western conference.Jovocop wrote:It is a slow day at work. IMO, it really dosn't matter if you're a 90 point C, if you can't play D or play against the opponents top line you're not totally effective. I'd rather have a guy capable of playing in all situations and score a few less points than someone who only shines with the puck. A player like Seguin or Spezza will pot a pile of points, but someone like Toews or Bergeron is much more valuable to team success.
Virtanen and Shinkaruk could be a great 1-2 punch on the left side. Virtanen and Kassian as a winger combination could cause quite a few headaches (literally, concussion inducing) for opposing d-men.

Vey should be higher on that list at this point.
He will likely lead the bunch in total NHL points.

Agreed, Vey could be the 2/3 line centre this season.Strangelove wrote:Jovocop wrote: The current Canucks Depth chart:

It was funny though that was the first thing I thought about when I read your post. Like wtf, foot speed, here we go again. Then I read the article and chuckled to myself. He's fine, just working on getting better.
I do like his attitude and hope the work pays off for him and us. It's nice being excited about a prospect again.
