Here who is coming...sure is nice to some decency, finally, on that list below. Although it could still use some more improving, the prospect pool is still a little thin, but much better.

Hmm - there's the usual Canuck prospects from the last three draft years, and a smattering of other interesting invites:

Spencer Humphries a 22 year old BC born defenceman that played part of the past season in the KHL...

Curtis Valk a small 21 year old center that played with Hunter Shinkaruk...

No Kenins, Corrado, McNally, Labate, Friesen, Lain, Blain, Andersson, Tommernes, or Williamson.

Dane Fox scored 64 goals in 67 games why isn't he being touted as a future star?

Google the history of 50-60 goal scorers in the CHL and you'll quickly learn that it means diddly squat. Tom Sestito scored 40 goals as an overager, lol. Josh Holden scored 57 goals one year for the Regina Pats. Harold Druken scored 58 goals in 60 games for the Plymouth whalers one year. Rick Girard, remember him? He scored 71 goals in 72 games one year for the swift current broncos. Don't get your hopes up.

Virtanen is going even with his injury? Is Shinkaruk good as well for this?

They'll both be there. Virtanen will participate in a limited way due to his recovery. Shinkaruk is expected to fully participate.

Fox will have to hone his craft in the AHL for sure, he does play a chippy game with some good hits, some solid skills with the puck, he just needs to work more on his skating like most prospects and maybe get a little more aggressive in the pursuit of the puck, didn't know on the Connor McDavid line Fox is the one taking the faceoffs for the most part, interesting.

Dane Fox has transformed himself from unknown commodity in the Ontario Hockey League to blue-chip NHL prospect.

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/h ... e17477910/

“I’m paying a lot more attention to all aspects of my game,” Fox said. “I’m focusing on playing effectively at both ends of the ice. I’m finishing my checks better than ever and that has led to some scoring chances both for myself and my teammates.”

Having already graduated from high school, Fox has also dedicated himself to being the best player he possibly can this season.

“I go to the rink to work out in the morning and then go home to rest for a bit before coming back for practice in the afternoon,” he said. “I’m in the best shape of my career and I’m focused on getting the job done.”

Otters head coach Kris Knoblauch said the overage forward from Thamesville, Ont., is a major reason for the team’s success this season.

“I think Dane may very well have had a breakout season for us last season had he played the entire season,” Knoblauch said. “He was our go-to guy at both ends of the ice and he averaged nearly a point a game on a bad team that won only 19 games last season.”

Fox missed the first half of the season in 2012-13 due to a foot injury and scored 19 goals and added 17 assists in just 37 games.

“While Dane has been scoring more goals for us this season, he hasn’t neglected the defensive side of his game,” Knoblauch said. “He’s one of the forwards we’ll have out there if we are protecting a lead late in the game and before we traded for Brendan Gaunce, he was taking all of our important face-offs.

“Since we acquired Gaunce, he and Fox have shared the role of taking the big face-offs for us.

Fox’s 62 goals are the most a player has scored in a single season since the team has been based in Erie. The franchise record is 66, held by Mike Bullard with the 1979-80 Brantford Alexanders and Mike Millar with the 1984-85 Hamilton Steelhawks.

Playing on a star-studded Erie team this season allowed Fox to fly under the radar, until he started goals at a faster rate than everyone else in the OHL this season. Heading into Thursday’s games, Fox led the goal-scoring race by 16 over Barrie’s Andreas Athanasiou.

Seriously? Another Tiger? How much you wanna bet they were shooting for Emerson Etem in the Kesler trade?

5'9" and 162 lbs. Longshot would be an overstatement.

We've heard this before...
@VanCanucks 22s

"If young players come into camp and earn a spot on the team, they'll be on the team. We want them here" - Benning
But I guess sadly we've never had a propsect/rookie blow away the veteran players the last few years, what was the last one? CoHo?

Anyways gives hope for the youngsters if you play well/better than some of the vets you gonna make the squad on your own merit.

After the dust settles I'm guessing Jensen makes it eventually this season after a couple months in the AHL, his play in the latter part of last season was great for NHL play, just needs to not make fancy plays away in middle of the ice, keep it simple but can be creative in close to the net to get shots off.

I assume MGJB is trying not to put too much pressure on Horvat.

Benning on @BoHorvat: "We don't want to rush him, we need him to be ready and have a solid foundation" #Canucks

By my estimation Shinkaruk made the team last fall only to be pushed out by the stupid acquisitions of Dalpe and Welsh.

Nope. He was a local product.
