Alright, here's a genius plan that even the owners will give their blessing too.

Hamhuis for a 1st (cap space, high pick, allowing us to use another pick in the next trade)

Vrbata+Shinkaruk+2nd for Drouin (Trade Vrb to a contender, getting roster space for the new Drouin)

Higgins for future considerations (roster/cap space move)

Sedins Hansen
Drouin Sutter McCann
Baertschi Horvat Burrows
Prust Cracknell Dorsett

Edler Tanev
Sbisa Hutton
Bart Pedan
Weber

Mills
Marks
A long time ago, a baseball player remarked: "If I owned a ballclub, I'd hire a $5,000 coach and a $15,000 scout."

While Tampa made it to the finals last year, they are hardly a contender right now. They are outside of the playoffs and struggling badly. Yzerman would be a moron to make a trade from the standpoint of a contender.

.

Given that the team is just beginning to stock pile prospects and Benning has said that the price tag will be steep, if he were to empty the cupboards I'd rather it be spent on acquiring Hamonic rather than Drouin...

And rather than spending much of what's in the cupboard, I'd still prefer to see the team try to land Hamonic with an Edler for Hamonic swap...

Canucks lose some offense but gain a tougher player who is in the sweet spot at 25 years old...

Take care...

I was all for this initially, but then I looked at Hamonic's numbers and player type. He's a slightly bigger and more physical version of Tanev. He's also a right shooting defender. If we trade Edler for another defenseman, it shouldn't be a right shooting stay home guy.

The deal for Hamonic makes sense at the deadline IF we are out of contention and selling big time. It also depends on what Hutton is looking like around that point.

I'm surprised there was no interest in Schenn from Benning. We get pushed around so much in our own end.

The Flyers were literally just trying to rid themselves of those two players. I'm sure they would have taken a 4th for Schenn by himself.

It's crazy how fast and how hard Lecavalier dropped off. Guy was top 3 in the world at one point.

Eklund said there was interest from the Canucks in Schenn in mid December http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Eklund/V ... e4/1/73222
But I guess Hex wanted Lecavalier packaged with him.
Vancouver Canucks interested in Luke Schenn. (e4)

This could happen sooner than later...the Kings also have interest, but not until the trade deadline...

more to come.

Maybe Schenn wasn't foundational enough for Gentle Jim. I mean he's no Sbisa.

Holy shit!

Maybe this will help poor skyo keep shit in perspective when he makes trade proposals for blue chippers.

Nashville has a glut of great defensemen so I guess they figured they could do this. Wow.

Wonder how long before Torts throws a watermelon at him in the locker room.
