Canucks acquire Linden Vey
Thanks to Herb.
Canucks acquire Linden Vey for the 50th overall pick.
Selected 4th round in 2009 but has some impressive numbers in the AHL.
6'0 RW
Played 18 games in NHL last season with 5 assists.
With the probability of any pick making the NHL being so low this does not seem like a bad deal.

I actually like this move more than most the last few days. GMJB knows exactly what he is getting with Vey. Only 22 years old so there is still some upside. A 50th overall pick in the draft is likely a crapshoot.

This is a good move. Willie knows him and he's been brought along in the LA system, all good. Looks like he's ready for an nhl role, only 22, for a #50 pick. Real smart.
Re: Canucks acquire Linden Vey
A better bet than what Benning was looking at with #50, it seems. We'll see what the kid can do this fall.
Benning seems to be loading up on the centres.

Can't hurt to have another potential top 9 forward, especially one who is only 22. He would have made the Nucks last year but in LA their center depth is a bit better.
Over a point a game in the AHL is very good for his age. Solid pickup.

Another ex Medicine Hat Tiger who scored 116 points in his final year of junior. A slower development in the AHL but consistent. Not a bad prospect to take a chance on and in that age group that we lack.
The only HW the Canucks need
Re: Canucks acquire Linden Vey
Veteran help in Utica for Shinky, Gaunce, Fox and Jensen if nothing else. Vey has put up points in the AHL which is a good sign.
I like it. Trade a guy who could help in 5 or 6 years for a guy who will help in Utica this year and who knows maybe he'll become a NHLer. He'll probably be the first or second call up.

From a (Kings fan) friend: "We gave Linden Vey a long look for nearly 3 yrs, scoring was no problem in Manchester but up in the N he didn't do much."
Doc: "BTW, Donny was right, you're smug."

He'll start off being the 3rd line center next season I bet.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

I think you're forgetting Matthias & Richardson. Vey will be on the wing & Horvat...maybe wing or jr again.

If you're gunning for the 1st overall pick next year it's not too shabby.

I have zero expectations for the next couple seasons. I'm ok with being a sub .500 team full of youngsters trying to figure stuff out.Rumsfeld wrote:
