It's true, and I don't like ragging on young kids but I thought it was funny that Benning said re: Kesler and then the draft choice for Kesler is about as thrilled to be a Canuck.

No kidding :| what is wrong with the kid?
Maybe it's that the Canucks traded that for that pick earlier in the day and weren't scheduled to be picking when he was projected to go? Maybe he was pissed he didn't go earlier to Dallas or Detroit? Not exactly well spoken but let's not crucify the kid.

Welcome to Vancouver, Jared.

Well, overall I must say as disappointed as I am that we couldn't move up to grab the first I am as equally relieved that Benning didn't give up some of what was being rumoured to accomplish that. Two decent picks with some potential. I'm ready for prospects camp!

Welcome to Vancouver, Jared.
He expressed surprise at being picked by the Canucks, then said it was an honour to be part of the organization.

We don't need to create no more stinkin issues.
Less Canucks embarrassment please.

That must have been it for sure !!:D

Nice to see a couple of C prospects come into the fold.Nice to see Nylander go to the leaves,Nice to see the Canucks get younger in the Kesler trade.
Nice acquisition of Virtanen and Dorsett who could be a couple of skilled assholes.
Nice action by Benning.

Great day today for the Canucks future, Virtanen and McCann with Horvat and Shinkaruk from last year, the future is looking a little brighter now. Nice to see so many decent prospects around the same age that will grow together with this team. Awesome

Just hope we can get Claude Lemieuxs kid at 36. With just 5 picks until our 2nd round pick and he's still available. Yeah. If not go for defence - Doughty or McKeown. Hunter Smith maybe. Surprised that Barbeshev is still available. Linden and Benning apparently WILL not draft russians.
“Tyler Myers is my guy... I was taking to Scotty Bowman last night and he was bringing up his name, and saying he’s a big guy and big guy need big minutes to play, he is playing great for ya… and I agree with him… He’s been exceptional” - Bruce Boudreau

2nd year in a row we get a guy 24th who was projected to go in the mid teens. Hope that bodes well.

So today…

Out:

Kesler
Garrison
2015 3rd rounder

In:

Bonino
Sbisa
Vertanen
McCann
Dorsett
2014 2nd rounder (50th overall)

Could've been better, yes, with a bona fide prospect like Ekblad or one of the Sams..or picking 6 and 10. But all in all not a horrible day. We put a little more into the cupboard and best news for me is retaining Shink and more importantly Tanev. Geez those rumours scared me. Still have a ways to go to retain him, and we may not still, but I hope management fully realizes his value on a super thin blueline youth wise.
