He could be to the Canucks like what AV is to the NYR this season. Good Coach that just needs a change of scenery.Island Nucklehead wrote:Yep. Yes, a reason to cheer for the Sharks to lose, other than it would just be fun to watch; to put him in the mix. Then again, he's also a coach he can't seem to get a talented group over the top...so, questions remain clearly, but he'd be a good candidate to consider.Betamax wrote:He could be to the Canucks like what AV is to the NYR this season. Or he could be to the Canucks what AV was to the Canucks for his tenure (and what McLennan has been in SJ) - a good regular season coach unable to find a way to win when it matters.

Linden is well regarded as a pretty nice guy.
Stringing Torts along for weeks while there are coaching vacancies around the league only to fire him in June or July would be a dick move, wouldn't it?
If ownership and Linden didn't like Torts, I would guess he would have been let go by now. The fact that he hasn't been let go, leads me to believe Torts' end of season interviews went well and that there is a good chance he is around to start the 2014/15 season.

Well, here's to hoping that Linden is no longer that "nice guy" you refer to and that he has learned from his external business dealings that you have to (at times) cut some throats to make some hay.herb wrote:Linden is well regarded as a pretty nice guy.

Otherwise they (or a grudgingly submitted we) may still be fucked.

I wouldn't know anything about what may or may not be gay.herb wrote: Jesus H. Christ I was literally thinking of you just this morning.

I would advise you to go buy a lottery ticket for tonight's draw however.

lol good to see ya leves.
But yeah, hopefully Linden is capable of making the tough decision and less loyal to his employees than his predecessor.

Holy shit, Donny and Ohdee showing up on the same day!
BTW, NOT A FLAME ... JUST AN OBSERVATION ...
Re: Who Can Be The Canucks New Head Coach?
I liked a lot of the things Gillis did, but over the past couple of years he did more bad than good.
Letting the effective but controversial Raffi Torres leave town because some of the core guys thought he was a pig was one move I'll never understand. Maybe I could understand it if he replaced Torres, but he didn't.
Was Gillis running the show or Sedin/Kesler/Bieksa?

Re: Who Can Be The Canucks New Head Coach?
Well I can't see it being Kesler or Bieksa, they are both win at all costs kind of guys.....particularly the former. The rumor that Torres wasn't well liked in the room came out after Gillis let him walk, and I can see him being a guy the Sedins and Vigneault didn't want around as his "take no prisoners" style of hockey is clearly not what they want to play.herb wrote:I liked a lot of the things Gillis did, but over the past couple of years he did more bad than good.
