How Your Vancouver Canucks Can Make the Playoffs

Postby Strangelove » Thu Mar 27, 2014 10:39 pm

.

I’m just going to go ahead and grant Phoenix the 1st wildcard spot in the West.

They're hot, in good position, yada yada.

But which team will grab that 2nd wildcard spot?

Let’s find out…

Minny has earned 6 points in their past 8 games (they're fizzling out folks!).

Their schedule will be a LOT tougher from here on

…. but I’ll be generous and grant them 5 points in their final 8 games.

85 + 5 = 90 points.

Dallas has earned 11 points in their past 10 games.

Their schedule will be a tad tougher from here on

… so I’ll grant them 10 points in their final 10 games.

79 + 10 = 89 points.

Vancouver has earned 9 points in their past 7 games.

Their schedule is actually much easier from here on (6 homes games!).

… so I’m going to grant them 2 extra points (just ONE extra win).

79 + 11 = 90 points.

If all of the above happens, your Vancouver Canucks would win the tie-breaker

…. and end up with that last wildcard playoff spot.

So... can... your Vancouver Canucks go 5-1-1 down the stretch in what is essentially a home stand?

Can your Vancouver Canucks grab that last wildcard spot?

If you answered “yes” to these questions, please give yourself a high-five. :mex:

I hope you're right Doc.

Would be incredible if that played out.

Good point about Phoenix and Minnesota. The Wild have a very tough schedule (although ours is no picnic either).

Between your incredible optimism and Royaldude's habitual "sky is falling" mentality however, I think the truth lies somewhere in between.

I don't think we'll make it, but I'll be glad to be proven wrong.

On a more positive note, Jensen and Kassian have impressed me quite a bit lately. I'm feeling good about the fact that I don't expect us to follow the dark path of the Flames, Leafs, and Oilers.

If you still think Canucks will make the playoffs, that's The Power of Love.

Right on all counts!

This last stretch has all the intensity of playoff games.

FUN FUN FUN... for everyone but the faint of heart.

Y'know UK, I get the feeling that some of our fellow fans are AFRAID OF THE PLAYOFFS!!

... afraid of embarrassment and heartache after recent failures.

To these people I say: Buck up buckos!!!

Suck it up and... get back on that horse!

That Cup is ours, now let's go out and get it...

Dallas and Minnesota.

Yes, both teams have been struggling with the higher intensity of the stretch drive

(meanwhile your Vancouver Canucks seem to be rising to the challenge).

Dallas is going to have to make do without Peverley and possibly Cole down the stretch.

Two of their best forwards.

Opposing team's have figured out that if you can shut down the top line you've got a good chance to win.

Reading Dallas message boards, I see a lot of concern about making the playoffs.

Their team is struggling and fans are concerned about how much Seguin + Benn really want it

(party boys).

Meanwhile Minny has really shat the bed of late.

I think they were playing over their head earlier in the season, and again, games are tougher now.

They don't have NEAR as much confidence in Kuemper/Bryz as they had in Harding/Backstrom

(nor do I).

Look at the skeds of these two teams and count how many points should be expected.

Repeat after me: That last playoff spot is ours.

Tanking creates a loser mentality that may linger for years to come

... a problem that is compounded by the fact players with any integrity (winners) will want out.

All this just for the pleasure of a crap-shoot 10th instead of a crap-shoot 15th in a crap draft year? :scowl:

Yeah no, there is no logic whatsoever in wanting YOUR Canucks to lose a few extra games right now.

I must conclude therefore that there are only 3 reasons to join the crew known as... Tank it Torts!™

1). A cynical lame-ass cry-baby self-loathing attempt to troll fellow Canuck fans (aka Eating Your Own).

2). A feebleminded fucktarded attempt to answer those who would mock: "no no, I wanted my team to lose!"

3). A cowardly fear of having one's heart ripped out.. yet again... if one were to go all in with this group.

Meanwhile, true fans (yes I went there) cheer for their team to have success at all times....

PERIOD.

They don't care if it's due to a superior level of skill, a superior game plan, blood n guts drive, ridiculous luck,

.... or all of the above.

NEVER. STOP. BELIEVING.

... and if you have: REPENT!!
