As per @LouisJean_TVA, Ryan Kesler has asked the Canucks to trade him.

Well, this makes things interesting....

Well, in the very least, given that there has not been and does not seem likely to be much excitement on the ice, all these rumors will make Canuck watching interesting over the next week. I'd prefer to not trade Kesler but if 1) he really wants out and 2) the deal is very good, okay then. But for those GMs who think Kesler wanting a trade means Gillis will be forced to take a bad deal, the Luongo situation shows he won't, and their is no equivalent to Schneider behind Kesler. If there's no good deal for Kesler, he stays as an excellent #2 center, provided he's healthy.

Let the fun begin..or continue.

Okay, how about Kesler to NYR for Nash similar age, bigger cap hit for Nash but only for 4 more years, and he can still score...will it happen? can't imagine, but it's crazy speculation time, what the hell.

Kesler for Nash would be an absolutely terrible deal.

Canucks should be looking for a young promising guy either 25 or below. Period.

Stack up the farm, build up the prospect pool, complement the next Canuck core of Horvat, Shinkaruk, Kassian, etc.

None of this fucking Rick Nash crap.....with all due respect.

Based on what fantasy?

Nash 42gp 18-9-27
Kesler 60gp 20-18-38

18 in 42 is quite a bit better than 20 in 60. Nash had a bad start to season, concussion, but has been playing well, a threatening power forward, his game has been looking good. I see him play a lot. I don't want to lose Kesler but if we're talking trade, what the hell, lets have some fun with it....when it comes to trade deadline speculation it is all fantasy. I sure don't want Callahan back for him, we need scoring.

Nash has been the NHLs most overrated player for years. The rim-jobs he gets from the media as a "Franchise Player" is laughable.

I find myself agreeing with a Laughs fan for a change. :eh:

Well, sorta.....I'd say he's one of the most overrated.

The latest has Pitt making a "pitch" to the Canucks for Kesler pre-Olympics for a deal centered around Pouliot and Sutter. My guess is Gillis probably wants Despres or Bennett included as well. No brainier would be Maatta but he's unlikely available.

Pouliot and Sutter for Kesler? Those two were traded for Jordan Staal a couple seasons back essentially. Ironic, if there's any truth to it.

Buffalo GM Tim Murray has asked Ehrhoff to provide his list of 8 teams that he will not report to.

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=444870

Gillis should jump on this.

To Van: Ehrhoff + Ott + Moulson

To Buf: Edler + Kesler + Higgins

Better still.....

To Van: Ehrhoff + Ott + Moulson

To Buf: Edler + Daniel

Who else gets called a "Franchise Player" who puts up 55-60 points a season? And it's the Toronto media that has overrated this guy so much.

Agreed, but if Gillis has been told to make this team a contender now, that trade makes sense.

Maybe you really shake things up and drop Kesler and Ott from the equation and get screwy.....

To Buf: Edler + Higgins + Hansen + Corrado + 2nd

To Van: Ehrhoff + Moulson + Weber

Any trade that got us Moulson and Ehrhoff instantly upgrades our offense (something we badly need).

Sedin-Sedin-Bur
Moulson-Kes-Kassian

If you subscribe to the theory that the Sedin's problem is the lack of secondary support, then that's a nice top six. No two ways about it.

Problem is that it depletes our bottom 6.

Richardson-Schroeder-Booth
Sestito-Lain-Dalpe

Defense looks OK still

Hamhuis-Bieksa
Garrison-Ehrhoff
Stanton-Tanev (maybe the steadiest under-25 pairing in the league)
