Desperation then. The Roy trade made sense at the time
Seemingly, but ya think our "pro" scouts who get paid the big bucks to advise on players would have notice that Roy has a terrible playoff points record, not too mention that he had 4 goals when we traded for him.

Doc the Flyers are out of compliance buyouts. No way do they take on Booth unless it's in exchange for an even worse contract and they don't have one.

Are you saying that Torts is not bouncing his players all over the line-up like AV?

I know they've used both compliance buyouts Dave.

A regular buyout this summer means a $1,083,333 cap-hit in 2014-15... $1,583,333 in 2015-16.

And the cap is going up.

For the right deal they'd take that on. :thumbs:

I have stated a few times that Canucks would use a regular buyout on Booth if still here

... and save that last compliance buyout for Luongo (Recapture Penalty is that much of a bitch).

You have said that Doc.

If you're right.. if a couple of years of a bit of dead cap space is not that onerous.. I'd probably rather see the Canucks buy old Boothie out themselves (or retain half his salary and dump him on another team at minimal cost) than try to shoehorn him into a hockey trade where they end up having to offer up more just to make it worthwhile.

Booth for Erat seems to be trending right now, I'd accept that trade.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

-Canes Gleason, Ruutu on block.
Liles could be going to the Canes.

-MaxPac getting a lot of calls of interest from other teams.

-Erat might have interest from Vancouver.

-Phaneuf contracts ongoing

-Flamers Backlund could be dealt.

-NHL cap to go up more thanks to new tv deal with Rogers.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

Hmmm... a soft euro or an injury plagued american? Erat's salary is quite a bit cheaper next season though, so it might be easier to buy him out. Meh, what do I care about Aqua-man's money? I think I'd keep Boothy. Let him skate around for us and if he gets a goal here and there, it'll be a bonus. :lol:

nah Booth's time here is done, MG could salvage this fiasco with a one for one trade and hope for better results with another player, plus the team could use some new blood.

A soft Euro is exactly what we need to help us beat the tough Blues, Kings, Blackhawks, Sharks, Ducks etc.,

Re: In a perfect world (Proposal)

2013-14 TRADE DEADLINE
1) TRADE – TO WPG: RICHARDSON, HANSEN, BOOTH, WELSH, WEISE, 2nd
````````````````TO VAN: KANE
*Been seeing a lot of proposals for Kane involving our Dmen, but WPG already has a solid D-core, especially with Morrissey in the future. What WPG lacks is depth up front. These are their 4 lines before and after this trade:
BEFORE
Evander Kane ($5.250m) / Bryan Little ($4.700m) / Blake Wheeler ($5.600m)
Andrew Ladd ($4.400m) / Olli Jokinen ($4.500m) / Devin Setoguchi ($3.000m)
Eric Tangradi ($0.675m) / Jim Slater ($1.600m) / Michael Frolik ($2.333m)
Matt Halischuk ($0.650m) / Mark Scheifele ($0.863m) / Chris Thorburn ($0.867m)
AFTER (4m Cap Space)
Andrew Ladd ($4.400m) / Bryan Little ($4.700m) / Blake Wheeler ($5.600m)
Jannik Hansen ($1.350m) / Olli Jokinen ($4.500m) / Devin Setoguchi ($3.000m)
David Booth ($4.250m) / Jim Slater ($1.600m) / Michael Frolik ($2.333m)
Eric Tangradi ($0.675m) / Brad Richardson ($1.150m) / Dale Weise ($0.750m)
2) TRADE – TO WSH: TANEV, SCHROEDER/ALBERTS/TOMMERNES, JENSEN, GAUNCE, 1st, 3rd
````````````````TO VAN: JOHANSSON, STRACHAN (For cap compliance)
*WSH's defense is not too great, which is why sending a young Top 6 Dman in Tanev (who is going to get better) would be appealing to them. Also, Gaunce is a B+ prospect who is going to be a solid 3C in his prime. WSH is right up against the cap, which is why they get EITHER Alberts or JS (both 600k) and we get a 2014 UFA in Strachan. The picks help seal the deal.

After all of the above...
2013-14 LINEUP AFTER DEADLINE
FORWARDS
Daniel Sedin ($6.100m) / Henrik Sedin ($6.100m) / Alexandre Burrows ($4.500m)

Chris Higgins ($2.500m) / Mike Santorelli ($0.550m) / Zack Kassian ($0.870m)
Tom Sestito ($0.750m) / Zac Dalpe ($0.550m) / Darren Archibald ($0.660m)

DEFENSEMEN
Alexander Edler ($5.000m) / Jason Garrison ($4.600m)

After all of the above...
2014-15 LINEUP
FORWARDS
Daniel Sedin ($7.000m) / Henrik Sedin ($7.000m) / Zack Kassian ($1.165m)
Evander Kane ($5.250m) / Marcus Johansson ($2.000m) / Ryan Kesler ($5.000m) :D

DEFENSEMEN
Alexander Edler ($5.000m) / Jason Garrison ($4.600m)
Ryan Stanton ($0.550m) / Kevin Bieksa ($4.600m)
Yannick Weber ($0.720m / Dan Hamhuis ($4.500m)
Frank Corrado ($0.591m) /

GOALTENDERS
Roberto Luongo ($5.333m)
Eddie Lack ($1.150m)

------
(estimations for 2014-15)
SALARY CAP: $68,000,000 approx.; CAP PAYROLL: $67,625,444; BONUSES: $1,070,833
CAP SPACE (23-man roster):
+$374,556

We are left with 2 first lines, an okay 2nd, a 3rd, and options to the max. With 4 good lines, some pressure will be taken off the Sedins as there'll be a ton of secondary scoring and the ice-time will be more even among the 4 lines. I was thinking from lines 1-4 this would be the TOI (in minutes) not including PPs or PKs: 16.5-16.5-14-13

*Note: For the Schroeder/Alberts/Tommernes situation in Trade 2, the calculations (capwise) are as if WSH chooses either JS or Alberts (both 600k) (Tommernes is 680k). If WSH did choose Tommernes, it would still be cap compliant.

*Note: If WPG really wants another 25-35 goal scorer in their Top 6 (Hansen won't pot 30), they are left with enough cap to sign Moulson as the cap is rising.

*Note: In 2014-15 Lineup, there are 15 Canadians (Johansen, Santo, and Kane are from Van :mrgreen: )

Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

Trading away picks and prospects and virtually all of our forward depth.

And that post took a lot of work.
Our core isn't getting any younger. This years draft is not the deepest of drafts, and the pick we make in the 2nd half of the 1st round likely won't be an impact player soon enough that our core is still good enough to make a run.

Kane is 22, Johansen is 21, and Johansson is 23. Half of the guys I trade are around 27 and not huge impact players. The others are still good young players, some with a pretty bright future, but you gotta give to get, and IMO I think what we'd get would make us a cup favourite no doubt.

Lastly, look at the lineup I made. Its stacked, but it's probably not very realistic. I think WPG and WSH would probably accept the trades, and the signings would go through, but I doubt MG would do any of them, hence the title "In a perfect world".
