I would bet the Canucks finish ahead of LA, who have never been a great regular season team.
San Jose is as likely as the Canucks to regress, but could be the top California team. Anaheim I expect will suffer from lack of secondary scoring (as I predict Teemu and Koivu to play this year the way they did at the end of last year), plus their own goaltending controversy.

I'd give Phoenix better odds of making the playoffs then Edmonton.

My firmest prediction is that whoever wins the Pacific will be a long ways from winning the President's Trophy.

I predict the mods will delete this because it's off topic (and they have no sense of humour  )

Dr Strangelove. :hmmm:
Mondi wrote: Everyone makes predictions this time of year, I see the team making the playoffs and losing in the first round. Hardly a bold or unrealistic prediction.
Hmmm sounded pretty bold to the Great Strangelove, lessee:
Mondi wrote: The Canucks will finish 2nd, 3rd or 4th in the division. Therefore they will play SJ or LA in the first round with almost certainty.

Anyway you slice it...

1. LA
2. SJ/Van
3. Van/SJ
4. Edm/Van

Only possible matchups are LA and SJ.
"almost certainty" ?

"only possible matchups are LA and SJ"??

Who do you think you are... Madame Cleo??

Well I'll have you know the Great Strangelove hates arrogance!

BTW what is "Mondi" anyway??

Sounds like a nickname poster Todd would choose for Mickey Redmond.

Do my posts keep you up at night? After all, you seem to respond to all of them.

And I think everyone knows that he who likes the sound of his own keystrokes is the only super genius around here. That's you by the way.

SJ and LA are locks to be 1-2 in the division.
It will be a huge fight to claim the 3rd place spot.

PHX is a wild card. Smith is for real...they will be good.
Edm ....does anyone really know.... Its a young player country club with two Gretzky cling ons
running the show....and Eakins may be Bill Laforge....I'm not impressed with his BS show....'so serious about hockey"
really?? These are pro hockey players?? do you think they got there by not being 'serious'....
Cal.... not good at all....
ANA.... Canucks seem to have toughness issues against them....

So the fight is against ANA, PHX,.....and who knows about EDM.....

In a cross over/wild card/whatever..... the Central Div also looks like a fight to make the playoffs....the locks are CHI and STL.....

It may be tougher than we all think that the Canucks are a lock to make the playoffs.......
I thought they were in ....for sure...as a fan....

and the media will say:

DISAPPOINTING LOSS IN THE OPENER

really?

We need to know that the SJ team is built to win this year....and LA is built to win this year.

The Canucks played well against a very good team.

Also, might want to add an option between "top team in the West" and "barely making the playoffs".

and another between "middle of the pack and make the playoffs" and "not make the playoffs - time to rebuild " ?
I think we make it into the playoffs and also think its time to rebuild :) We aren't going to win a Stanley with the team we got..

Missed the entire pre-season so last night was the first time I had to watch this group. What I feel is that we have a lot of work to do. The bottom 6 is far from gaining my confidence and scoring again looks like it will be problematic. I just don' t have that wow factor when I watch them. Yes it's early and I can only hope this is not the play we will get most games. But my early feeling is we are in tough this year, we will make the playoffs but I do not see a contender. I see another early exit.
The only HW the Canucks need
