Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

(after Hughson said Detroit didn't want it to go to a shootout cuz they're 0-6, leaves 5-2)

LOVE that Hughson!
Hughson did the jinx on JVR's shoot-out attempt as well announcing that he hadn't missed this year just as he was skating in

When is that ownership group going to wake up and realize this isn't the cocaine cowboy 80's? Christ, it's depressing for those fans. Eberle has disappeared completely. They don't have any defence. Bryzgalov is just hoping to play well enough to get a contract with an NHL team... tragic.

They haven't had a 90 point season since going to the finals. Since then it's been seasons of 71 (Gagner), 88 (Eberle), 85 (Parjaavi), 62 (Hall), 62 (RNH), 74 (Yakupov), 45 (Nurse). This year they are on pace for just 53 points. If Buffalo wasn't even more depressing, Edmonton would have already locked up ANOTHER 1st overall pick (Ekblad or Reinhart).

Just a miserable, terribly run organization. Probably the worst-run team in hockey right now. Sad that they are a Canadian team with a rabid fan-base. Leave that shit in Florida or Columbus, where only 5,000 people are subjected to such garbage.

Really agree with you on this one. Sad to see them this bad. I saw a flashback clip of the old cup winning Oil with Gretz, Mess, Anderson and company. What is up with the GM there? Lowe should have been tossed two or three years ago. Is he lovers with Katz or are they just stupid?

I am currently working in a NY prison and one of the hacks there thinks he is funny by calling me 'frozen brain' cause I come from Canada. he also throws in a bunch of 'eh' and thinks he is hilarious. However, when I look at the Oil these days he may have a point. :)

On another note I really like what I am seeing from this years team. We do not have the depth of scoring to go far but who knows about the trade deadline and next year with Horvat. He is looking very good and in my book he is number one in the prospect pool. He has leader all over him and also has some speed and size. With Lack playing like he is we may end up saying the CS trade was good. Have a good holiday season all you Canuck fans and you too RD. ;)

In this day and age everyone has the attention span of a twat and the patience of a dick...

The Oilers will be fine but they need several more year.

Case in point. RoyalPainInTheArseGuy makes the argument that Our Vancouver Canucks should be more the like the Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks and never go bad.

This is simply complete and utter bullshit.

His Chicago Blackhawks were a crap and forgotten franchise for well over a decade. It took a lot of time to get back into contention and an elite team you see today. Some draft picks pay off some don't. Through drafting and UFA and trades they built a winner but it took a lot of time....

Which is iRonic....BDs prediction that the Oilers will be a renewed dynasty could still happen, it was just never going to happen this year. If they draft high this and next year....whoa...they could develop those picks into a truly incredible team. Lowe may or may not be around, he may have convinced ownership that this is a long term project (a decade) which is very true, he could be replaced by a GM that may or may not get short term results or be even worse (Mike Milbury might be looking for work  ). Their coach may or may not be able to develop young guys, again, it's still too early to judge them all as failures. Guess we have to wait until 2018.

Won in Conference Semifinals, 4–2 (Canucks)
Won in Conference Finals, 4–0 (Sharks)
Stanley Cup Champions, 4–2 (Flyers)

So looking at this, we have to thank the Hockey Gods that we never had to tank as bad and for as long as Chicago did to remain a contending team.

I tell all the Leaf fans I can that if they ever want the to be considered amongst the top 5 teams in the league they will have to suck for at least 5 years. A decade is a long time and there are no guarantees but you cannot argue with the result in the Windy City.

When 'double jointed elbows' spends every post posting about me... Well, I only have one thing to say about it, I will quote the great Charlie Sheen - "winninggggg"
“Tyler Myers is my guy... I was taking to Scotty Bowman last night and he was bringing up his name, and saying he’s a big guy and big guy need big minutes to play, he is playing great for ya… and I agree with him… He’s been exceptional” - Bruce Boudreau

Addendum

Looking at the two franchises Buffalo & Vancouver in their shared history we have to hold our heads up pretty high for now. Yes, Buffalo won the draft pick and got good very fast...

In 42 seasons we have missed the playoffs 15 times. Buffalo 13 (it doesn't look too promising for them this year or the next few). Canucks made the Finals 3 times (and very well may have in 2004/05 lost season), Sabres 2.

The balance to stay competitive versus revenue generating in a playoff appearance is not easy and did not get easier in the expanded NHL era.

Let's face it, the Vancouver hockey market is very fickle. If we sucked for 5-10 years the ticket and merchandise sales would plummet, as would playoff revenue.

In the Leaf market, they are so used to mediocrity and shit season since the Ballard years and a desperately saturated fan base they could put Pussy Riot on skates and still sell out every night and jersey's galore.

Buffalo, no one gives a shit either way. It's as bad or worse as Edmonton for culture and there are the Bills or Sabres for seasonal distractions.

I gotta say, for an expansion team, we are a lucky bunch. The original 6 have rich history. We have a couple of game 7s but at least we have hope and a window. Can't say the same for other teams...

Phoenix loses in OT on probably the most bizarre goals I've ever seen...
