Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie
VAN's Zack Kassian gets 5 regular season games and rest of pre-season for highsticking Gagner.
That is fxxking BS.... 8 games???? This league is such a joke. Punishment is based on injury, not intention...
Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie
Hearing VAN's Weise suspended for balance of pre-season for hit on EDM's Taylor Hall. Awaiting announcement from NHL.
Not much of a loss...

New NHL World Order is how bad your injury is or looks like, which determines if you get suspended and for how long. With a splash of intent in there.

for example if Taylor Hall broke his ankle or something he'd probably get suspended, but he didn't and got away with this scott free.

Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

And this (20 stitch cut and some dental work) was only 1 game suspension???

Actually they go by how hated the team is.

And the Canucks are definitely an extremely hated team amirite?

Rome, Hansen, Kassian, all with excessive suspensions.

SHANNAHAN SHOULD TAKE UP SEWING.

Inconsistent. Unacceptable. Pathetic. Unfair.

Ah. Smell that? The NHL is back.

Honestly can anyone even be bothered feeling outrage over this stuff anymore?

Kassian was careless with his stick, just about the worst outcome possible happened and the league suspended him based on the outcome and not his actions.

Add in the fact that Kassian is pretty much a nobody and Gagner is (was) the Oilers only healthy center worth a damn and here we are.

It's completely ridiculous but who can even be bothered anymore.

The only thing that's outrageous is the inconsistency from Shanahan. If he maintained any sort of consistency then this suspension wouldn't be out of line. However, we all know the next suspension wont fall in line with this one...

Kassian shouldn't have his stick up like that because it can break someones' face. Fact. Also he seemed more concerned with commenting on the Oilers acquisition of Steve Mac than feeling like shit about it I perceive. If he had taken the high road and focused on making it more apparent that he felt bad, he may have come away with a lighter sentence.

I seriously want to see how Carter looked like after Keith whacked his face with an INTENTIONAL high stick which resulted in over 20 stitches and some dental work. Also, Keith is a repeat offender. If my math is correct, Carter should look 7/8 times better than Gagner if you count the preseason games or 80% better if you only count the regular season games. Where the fxxk is the justice?? I am okay with Kassian suspension if Keith got about the same suspension. However, the video that I posted earlier clearly indicated that there is a problem. A star player from the original six gets a special treatment. WTF?

Don't be obtuse guys.

Of course Carter was left in better shape than Gagner.

Of course playoff games mean more than exhibition/october games.

Of course Keith gets special treatment (even to the extent where being a repeat offender is no longer a factor).

Where's the justice? Are you serious?

Outraged at the inconsistency?

The league suspends on the result, the name of the offender, what month it is, how much they care about the franchise employing the offender, the name of the injured player.. in roughly that order.

0 games missed, Norris Trophy winner Duncan Keith, June, Original Six franchise, Carter = 1 game

Long term injury, certifiable insane person (just ask Dallas Eakins) Zack Kassian, September, Pacific coast franchise, Gagner = 3 games + 5 more that count

What is the over/under of Kessel? He whacked Scott 3 times. Once defensively, once after Scott was engaged with someone else, and then a shot to the guts (after picking up his stick he dropped earlier) as the refs were cleaning up the mess.

If Kessel was Burrows in Toronto, it would be 8 games.
If Kessel was Burrows in (choke) Toronto, it would be 2 games.
Since it is Kessel in Toronto, it -might- be one pre-season game..

My guess is that he gets nothing. Not even a fine that would mark him as a repeat offender next time he loses it.
The Cup is soooooo ours!!!!!!!
