Jim Benning invented wise.
We don't have to give up 4 first rounders if we sign Karlsson.
And that is why Mitch Marner is not getting an offersheet (Or anyone else).
An offersheet to Kapanen or Johnsson would cost a second at most.
And teams like the Islanders, who plan to make the playoffs henceforth (lower picks) and have capspace will offersheet Marner.
EDIT: If they offersheet Marner at $10M-per over 5 yrs the compensation is just two firsts, a second, and a third.
And they won't both because that gets matched 100% and they know it. It has to be 12+ at least.

Doc, I think you need to tell Tuna, again, that they need to be cap compliant by the opening of the season and that Horton’s 5.3 doesn’t get bumped until the season starts.

Rebuild cap management is different from contender cap management.
And we keep showing you Dubas is horrible at cap management...
You clearly don't get it. All these quality 700K to 750K are great moves. You are constantly asking how they will fill-out their roster next year, Dubas has been doing it all year. And it's not like these guys are not good, look at Trevor Moore.
Rosen/Sparks/Moore/Borgman all making 750K or less. Not all will be steals, but Moore and Rosen in particular look great for the $.

Wake up Tuna, you're talking about AHLers.
There are reasons they're cheap you koolaid chugging putz!
Moore has 7 points in 12 NHL games with 4th line minutes.
You build your system so you can fill-out your roster with quality and cheap players from the AHL. You don't dip into UFA for a 4th line C.
