Seems they may try to talk (Tavares) into waiving and then they may try to trade him by retaining 50%.

They desperately need 2 top-4 RSD (target UFAs Tanev/Myers/Dumba?)

To bring in a #1 goalie and 2 top-4 RSD will require capspace + assets, both of which will be lacking.

Although, they will clear some by letting Bertuzzi, Brodie, and Samsonov walk.

(they'll re-sign Domi with a slight salary increase in my opinion)

My brothers are all like blaming the refs for letting the Bruins away with murder. They say Toronto dominated the series and deserved to win. They actually come across like Canuck fans when we lose.

I do agree that getting either/or Tavares/Marner to waive will be difficult/impossible.

It is tough situation to be in. They dont really have the trade capital to trade for Markstrom or any other name player for that matter. They can make cap room by letting a few FA walk but who or what do they have to trade? They may have to bite the bullet for one more year and let those contracts expire.

What stood out in round 1 for me was when you have both teams playing at a top level, the individual skill becomes much less relevant than team defense and systems execution.

This is why McDavid will be whining incessantly this coming round. The Canucks D will box them out and they will resort to their default sniveling and whining state
