Jensen with the shootout winner! Davies also scored, while Haydar, Sterling, Rodin, and Sweatt were stopped.

Didn't see this anywhere else, but it would appear the Canucks are one step closer to, at the very least, purchasig their own farm club and leaving Chicago.

I hope the Canucks do not move the farm team to Abby.

While the kids may have greater access to the Canuck training staff (I'm thinking primarily fitness and dietary staff), I like the idea of keeping the kids away from the media circus of Vancouver. Look at how the TO media feasts on Leaf lineup decisions and call ups with the Marlies. Our developing players don't need that interference.

The other reasoning for a mid western farm team is ease of emergency call ups, especially while on the road. A midwest US location is a few hours from any NHL city if you need a player in a hurry.

I admit there are probably many financial benefits to having the farm team closer to home. Gate receipts will benefit, as will merchandising. There could also be some front office savings with shared administration, but I don't see these offsetting the distraction of local parent team, media and fan scrutiny.
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

Saturday March 30

AHL

Milwaukee 4 Chicago 3
Climie 13 saves on 17 shots

Haydar, (19) (Kattelus, Polasek)
Connauton, (7) (Haydar, Sweatt) (PP)
Matheson, (6) (Sterling, Sweatt)

The Wolves slip to 9th in the Western Conference, with 11 games to go...

ECHL

Kalamazoo 2 Fort Wayne 4
Anthony did not play
Friesen 0 points, +1
Grenier 2 goals (9th, 10th), +1
Mallet 1 assist, -1
Myron did not play
Rai did not play
Sauve 0 points, even

The K-Wings season is over.

NCAA

Yale 4 North Dakota 1
Beattie did not play

Yale on an improbable run into the Frozen Four... too bad Matthew Beattie wasn't a bigger part of it. Unsigned free agent Antoine Laganiere is on the team, and the Canucks reportedly will compete to sign him after Yale's season is over.

OHL Playoffs

Mississauga 0 Belleville 5
Gaunce 1 goal (3rd), 1 assist, +2 (selected 2nd star)

Belleville leads series 3-2

Looking at Canuck RFAs on capgeek:

Schroeder, Weise, Sestito, Tanev, Sweatt, Lain, S. Schneider, Connauton, Rodin, Archibald, Sauve, Joslin, Rai

Who stays? (How can Lain only have signed a 1 year contract? I thought ELCs were all 2 or 3 years...)

Sign: Schroeder, Tanev, Weise
Undecided: Lain, Connauton, Rodin, Archibald
Don't Sign: Sestito, Sweatt, S. Schneider, Sauve, Joslin, Rai

Rodin is gonzo out of the undecided group. I'd give Archibald, Connauton another shot and of course Lain will be there. I'm assuming, isn't that the kid we just signed out of College? Definitely give Sauve a shot out of the Don't sign group, the rest can go.

^^^I think capgeek must be wrong about Lain --- he must be under contract for at least this season and next. I don't think he could be RFA already.

Belleville wins the series 4-2

Gaunce GP 6 G 3 A 6 P 9 +6

I read somewhere that it was some kind of rule that Lain could only sign a 1 year deal....

I think it's based on their age when they sign the deal? Like the college guys have to match ELC's with their corresponding Major Junior age group... something like that.

Friday April 5

AHL

Chicago 2 Houston 5
Climie 9 saves on 13 shots - pulled in the 2nd period (Cannata 7 saves on 8 shots)

Archibald, (11) (Schroeder, Hunt)
Sweatt, (13) (Vandermeer, Schroeder)

Chicago is barely clinging to a playoff spot with 9 games to play. Hey, what happens if they play Peoria - should Canuck fans vote for Peoria (their AHL franchise, currently 13th) or the farm players (Chicago, 8th)? :)

OHL Playoffs

Kitchener 1 London 4
McEneny 0 points, even
Corrado 0 points, -2

Kitchener trails the series 0-1

Sudbury 3 Belleville 6
Gaunce 2 assists, -1

Belleville lead the series 1-0

Climie 31 saves on 31 shots

Groulx, (6) (Sterling, Blain)
Vandermeer, (3) (Schroeder, Sweatt)

Sauve in for Hunt on D, Jensen, DiDiomete, and S. Schneider in for Lain, Blomstrand, and Davies...

Vandermeer is lighting it up.

As an asside it may not be a bad idea to get him some minutes up here before the season is over. AV is on the |Ballard hate train again, Barker looks terrible and Alberts is weak as well. Exactly why didn't MG pick up a d-man again ? :?
